New trailer for ‘Wicked’ has arrived, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda

FANS of the beloved Broadway hit “Wicked” have something to celebrate as the highly anticipated film adaptation is just around the corner.

The latest trailer has arrived, giving us a magical sneak peek at the world of Oz and the early lives of its iconic witches, Elphaba and Glinda, brought to life by the dynamic duo of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

“Wicked” tells the untold story of the witches of Oz—long before Dorothy dropped in. Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), whose striking green skin sets her apart, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), the charming and ambitious student, form an unexpected bond while studying at Shiz University. This unlikely friendship is soon tested by their diverging destinies and their encounter with none other than The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, played by Jeff Goldblum.

As they journey through Oz, their lives become intertwined with the politics and magic of the land, leading them down paths they never imagined. From powerful spells to life-changing decisions, “Wicked” showcases how the two women became the infamous Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

The film boasts an impressive cast of both stage and screen veterans, alongside rising stars. Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh portrays the commanding Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Shiz University. Jonathan Bailey, best known for his roles in Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers, takes on the role of Fiyero, a carefree prince with a mysterious allure.

Other notable cast members include Ethan Slater, a Tony nominee from Broadway’s SpongeBob SquarePants, playing the well-meaning Munchkin, Boq. In her feature-film debut, Marissa Bode stars as Nessarose, Elphaba’s cherished sister, while four-time Emmy winner Peter Dinklage lends his voice to the insightful Dr. Dillamond, a Shiz University professor.

The film is directed by Jon M. Chu, who brought cinematic vibrance to films like Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights. Chu’s distinct style promises a visually stunning and emotionally resonant adaptation that fans of the musical have long hoped for.

“Wicked” is set to enchant audiences in cinemas on November 20. With its heartwarming themes of friendship, ambition, and the choices that shape us, this film will no doubt cast a spell on viewers everywhere.

Don’t miss this magical journey to Oz—mark your calendars now!
