COVID-19 vaccination para makakuha ng Christmas bonus, legal- Roque

SINABI ng Malakanyang na “legal” kung ire-require ang COVID-19 vaccination sa mga empleyado para makakuha ng kanilang Christmas bonus.
Tinukoy ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque ang polisiya ng Cebu City government na magbibigay ng P20,000 Christmas bonus sa bawat empleyado gaya ng inanunsyo ni Acting Mayor Michael Rama, kung saan dapat lamang ay fully vaccinated ang mga ito laban sa COVID-19.
“Wala po akong nakikitang pagkakamali diyan kasi Christmas bonus po ang pinag-uusapan. Hindi naman po requirement ng batas na magbigay ng Christmas bonus ,” ayon kay Sec. Roque.
“What our laws require for government workers is provision of 13th and 14th month pay. Granting Christmas bonus is discretionary, and as such, requiring a COVID-19 vaccine for that as an incentive is allowed,” dagdag na pahayag ni Sec. Roque.
Gayundin, sinabi ni Sec. Roque na ang naging panukala ng Metro Manila Council na imandato ang COVID-19 vaccination para sa mga nagtitinda sa Christmas bazaars ay katanggap-tanggap din.
“Mandating COVID-19 vaccine among their ranks is a matter of general welfare. This is a valid exercise of [the state’s] police power,” ayon kay Sec. Roque. (Daris Jose)
