STRANGER Things’ Finn Wolfhard stars in the first official trailer for A24’s upcoming film When You Finish Saving The World.
Wolfhard is a Canadian actor, as well as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the indie band The Aubreys, who is best known for his role as Mike Wheeler in the Netflix, hit series ‘Stranger Things’ as well as his portrayal of Richie Tozier in the 2017 film adaption of ‘IT’ and its sequel ‘IT: Chapter Two’.
It was previously announced that Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore would be joining Wolfhard in When You Finish Saving The World to lead the upcoming film from A24, which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival back in January, with no word on the future of the film, until now.
Now, A24 has revealed the first official trailer for the upcoming coming-of-age film, When You Finish Saving The World. The trailer highlights the strained mother-son relationship between Wolfhard and Moore as it showcases the raw emotional turmoil that some face while attempting to figure themselves out and the damage they sometimes cause to those around them. The When You Finish Saving The World trailer promises a modern coming-of-age tale that’s dripping with heartwarming energy.
Check out the trailer below:
Based on Jesse Eisenberg’s 2020 Audible Original audio drama by the same name, When You Finish Saving The World is written and directed by Eisenberg, marking the famed actor’s directorial debut. Eisenberg had previously directed the short film Becoming A Werewolf and will be directing and starring in the upcoming film A Real Pain. Outside of Wolfhard and Moore, When You Finish Saving The World will also see Alisha Bye (13 Reasons Why), Jay O. Sanders (Bardo), Billy Bryk (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), and Eleonore Hendricks (The Mountain) among its cast.
Eisenberg, Wolfhard, and Academy Award-nominated musician Emile Mosseri co-wrote the upcoming film’s all-original soundtrack, combining Wolfhard’s two famed talents into one coming-of-age tale. While highlighting their differences, the upcoming drama film will also showcase how oftentimes one’s differences can also reveal one’s similarities, while tackling romantic relationships in addition to domestic relations. When You Finish Saving The World is already setting itself up to be a unique onscreen experience, as it will require audiences to think from two different perspectives about a problem while drowning them in an overbearing amount of emotions.
A24 has released a litany of hit films just in 2022 alone, with Everything Everywhere All At Once, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and X along with its prequel Pearl just to name a few, leaving a significant amount of hope that When You Finish Saving The World will surpass expectations. Outside of Wolfhard and Moore’s onscreen chemistry, it will be interesting to see Eisenberg’s work on a film behind the screen in the upcoming coming-of-age tale.
Eisenberg fans and movie buffs alike won’t want to miss When You Finish Saving The World when it hits theaters on January 20. (source: screenrant.com)
