Hinihiling na ihinto ng Kongreso at makipag-dialogue: ‘Aktor PH’ na pinamumunuan nina DINGDONG, pumalag din sa ‘MTRCB Act’

NAUNA na ngang nagpahayag ang Directors’ Guild of the Philippines Inc. (DGPI) sa kanilang pagtutol tungkol sa kaugnay sa panukalang-batas ni Sen. Robin Padila, ang Senate Bill No. 2805 o MTRCB Act.

Magpapalawak ito sa Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) upang saklawin na rin pagre-regulate sa online streaming platforms tulad ng Netflix at VMX.

Kasunod naman pumalag na Senate Bill ay ang League of Filipino Actors (Aktor PH), na kung saan ang chairman nito ay si Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.

Sa kanilang official statement, maaari kasi nitong pigilan ang malayang pagpapahayag at makasama pa sa kabuhayan ng mga nagtatrabaho sa creative industry.

Ayon sa kanilang official statement na pinost sa Instagram, maaaring pigilan ang malayang pagpapahayag at maapektuhan din ang kabuhayan ng mga nagtatrabaho sa creative industry.

Nanawagan ang Aktor PH na itigil ang naturang panukala at makipagtulungan muna sa mga taga-industriya upang bumuo ng patas at makatarungang reporma.

“AKTOR, the League of Filipino Actors, calls on Congress to halt Senate Bill 2805 and initiate meaningful, inclusive dialogue with the creative industry. Any legislation that impacts freedom of expression, artistic integrity, and livelihood must be shaped with those who live and work in this space,” ayon sa kanilang statement.

‘We recognize and respect the existing safeguard that protect creators – especially women and minors – which already our creative processes.

“We believe in a self-regulating industry, whee accountability is upheld from within, and reforms are made in genuine partnership with the community.”

Dagdag pa nila, “We support protection against harm and exploitation—but not vague standards or sweeping controls that risk limiting voices and reducing opportunities for Filipino creatives.

“We urge our legislators to bring the industry to the table and begin again—so that any regulatory framework truly protects, not polices, the creative space.”

“We stand ready to help shape a better, fairer system—one that honors both the rights of the audience and the freedom and integrity of the Filipino artist.”

Sa official statement naman ng MTRCB, susunod lang sila sa magiging desisyon ng Pangulo at Kongreso.

“We respectfully defer to the wisdom of our lawmakers on the matte. Whatever is ultimately approved by Congress and the President, we will implement it.”
