The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has released its “age-appropriate ratings” for films that are showing in the silver screen this week.

The review committee composed of MTRCB Board Members (BM) Juan Revilla, Glenn Patricio, and Fernando Prieto cited that the material contains themes of kidnapping and mental torture that requires parental supervision and guidance for children below thirteen (13) years of age.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio advises parents or supervising adult that “under PG classification, a movie may contain themes, language, violence, nudity, sex, or horror, whose treatment is not suitable for very young audiences.”
“Survive” produced by 888 Films also earned rated PG from the review committee composed of Jose Alberto, Bobby Andrews, and Mark Anthony Andaya. They explained that the film contains brief and infrequent depiction of horror and frightening scenes, mild and infrequent swear words, menacing language, minimal and non-graphic depiction of violence and sufferings that needs parental supervision for viewers 12 and below.

The review panel composed of Reyes, Patricio, and Michael Luke Mejares said that the film contains depictions of horror, frightening scenes and occasional gore. Similarly, “Usher: Rendezvous in Paris” also earned R-13. The review committee comprised of Reyes, Wilma Galvante, and Racquel Maria Cruz, explained that the material contains discreet, infrequent, brief and non-graphic depictions of sexual acts that are not fit for children below 13 years old.
The horror movie “Strange Darling” by Pioneer Films earned Restricted-16 rating. R-16 films are for ages 16 and above only. The material was reviewed by Mejares, Cruz, and Alberto, who said the horror movie has a graphic but non-gratuitous depiction of violence and gore, language, non-graphic depiction of sexual activity, and non-gratuitous depiction of drugs or their use.
MTRCB Chair Sotto-Antonio assured the public that the ratings determined by the Board, are deemed appropriate for viewers of specific age groups.
