FDCP, Ipagdiriwang ang Pinakaunang Philippine Film Industry Month ngayong Setyembre

MAYNILA, PILIPINAS, AGOSTO 26, 2021 — Simula ngayong taon, ang Pilipinas ay opisyal na ipagdiriwang at gugunitain ang heritage, significance at legacy ng Philippine Cinema sa Philippine Film Industry Month ngayong Setyembre, ang buong buwan na taunang selebrasyon na isinautos ni President Rodrigo Duterte.  

Ang Film Development Council of Philippines (FDCP), bilang nangungunang ahensya na ipagdiriwang ang Philippine Film Industry Month, ay mayroong mga nakapilang kaganapan at programa para sa pambungad ng selebrasyon na may temang “Ngayon ang Bagong SineMula!”

Dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic, ang pag-obserba ng Philippine Film Industry Month 2021 ay gaganapin ng online sa social media pages ng FDCP para sa Opening at Closing events. Ang screenings naman ay eksklusibong idadaos sa FDCP Channel virtual platform (fdcpchannel.ph).

Ang Opening ng Philippine Film Industry Month sa Setyembre 1 ay maipapalabas ng live sa Facebook pages at YouTube channel, na magtatampok ng paglunsad ng Nood Tayo ng Sine Campaign kasama ang important announcements mula sa International Film Industry Conference (IFIC), First Cut Lab Philippines (FCL PH), FDCP FilmPhilippines Incentives Program, at Mit Out Sound: International Silent Film Lab.

Ang flagship program ng FDCP, ang ika-limang Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP), ay nagbabalik sa FDCP Channel kasama ang first leg nito, tampok din ang free screenings mula sa Sine Kabataan Short Film Competition at Sine Isla: LuzViMinda Short Film Competition mula Setyembre 17 hanghang 26.

Ipalalabas din ng libre sa FDCP Channel ang walong heritage films na restored o enhanced ng FDCP Philippine Film Archive kabilang dito ang Insiang ni National Artist Lino Brocka at Manila by Night ni National Artist Ishmael Bernal sa buong buwan ng Setyembre, at ang mga pelikula sa espesyal na Elwood Perez Retrospective mula Setyembre 25 hanggang 30.

Tatlong pelikula, Ang Turkey Man Ay Pabo Rin ni Randolph Longjas at ang mga restored version ng Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa at Dekada ’70 ni Chito S. Roño ay for rental para sa Pamana ng Lingkod Bayani @ FDCP Channel mula Setyembre 1 hanggang 12, isang partnership sa pagitan ng Civil Service Commission (CSC) at FDCP upang ipagdiwang ang 121st Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

Samantala, ang natatanging in-person na kaganapan ay ang Philippine Film Industry Gala sa The Manila Metropolitan Theater (MET) sa Setyembre 12 tampok ang by-invitation na screening ng Dalagang Ilocana ni Olive La Torre, launch ng Elwood Perez Retrospective, at ang book launch ng “Ang Daigdig ng mga Api” ni Clodualdo “Doy” del Mundo, Jr., “Alter/native Cinema: The Un-chronicled History of Philippine Alternative Cinema” at “Three-Volume Anthology of Essays on Philippine Cinema (Vol.1 Philippine Cinema and History; Vol.2 Philippine Cinema and Culture; and Vol.3 Philippine Cinema and Literacy) ni Nick Deocampo, at “Keeping Memories: Cinema and Archiving in Asia-Pacific” ng SouthEast Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA).

Espesyal na araw ang Setyembre 12 sa kasaysayan ng Philippine Cinema dahil ito ay kung kailan naipalabas noong 1919 ang Dalagang Bukid ni Jose Nepomuceno, ang pinakaunang Filipino-produced at directed na feature pelikula.

ANG Pilipinas naman ay ipinagmamalaking irerepresenta sa 78th Venice International Film Festival sa Italy ng On The Job: The Missing 8 ni Erik Matti, ang natatanging Southeast Asian film na lalahok sa kompetisyon sa prestihiyosong Biennale Cinema mula Setyembre 1 hanggang 11.

Ang Filipino delegates ay lalahok din sa China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), Kre8tif! Elevator Pitch sa Malaysia, at Philippine International Comics Festival (PICOF).

Sa ika-limang taon nito, ang Film Industry Conference ng FDCP ay magiging IFIC mula Setyembre 16 hanggang 19. Ang ibang industry trainings ay ang CreatePHFilms Online Scriptwriting Session, Safety and Health Officers Training Seminar (SHOTS) ng Safe Filming Program ng FDCP, Workshops in Film Incentives (WIFI) at Co-production Masterclass of the FDCP FilmPhilippines Office, Musical Score Lab ng FDCP National Registry (NR) at Mit Out Sound, at FCL PH na inorganisa ng FDCP at Tatino Films.

Ang Unsung Sariling Bayani (USB) Short Film Competition ni National Artist Kidlat Tahimik ay patuloy na idadaos ang USB Storming with Kidlat: Usapang Bayani Forum with USB Breakout Sessions and USB with Kidlat Tahimik.

Ang vaccination program ng FDCP para sa film at entertainment workers kasama ang “Vaccine Nation is the Solution” program ng City of Manila ay ipagpapatuloy ang ikalawang dose sa Setyembre 29 sa Adamson University para sa mga nakatanggap na ng kanilang unang dose noong Agosto 2 sa Palacio de Maynila.

Ang Closing ng Philippine Film Industry Month sa Setyembre 30 ay magtatampok ng Awarding ng Sine Kabataan at Sine Isla winners, paglunsad ng bagong FDCP website, at mga espesyal na anunsyo mula sa FDCP Channel at CreatePHFilms.

“Ngayon ang Bagong SineMula! This is the declaration of hopeful survival of the first-ever Philippine Film Industry Month amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It speaks of a new beginning, a chance to restart and rebuild a system that would be more inclusive and sustainable for all stakeholders, allowing Philippine Cinema to push forth with its heritage and legacy towards a brighter and more prosperous future for the industry,” wika ni FDCP Chairperson at CEO Liza Diño. 

Sa pamamagitan ng Presidential Proclamation No. 1085 na pinirmahan noong Pebrero 3, 2021, idineklara ni President Duterte ang buwan ng Setyembre bilang Philippine Film Industry Month, na kinikilala ang pangangailan na pahalagahan ang “invaluable contribution and sacrifices of all stakeholders and sectors of the film industry, as well as provide avenues to showcase and celebrate the achievements and progress of the discipline of film and filmmaking.”

Inatasan ng Pangulo ang FDCP upang manguna sa pagdiriwang ng Philippine Film Industry Month, at kasama ang lahat ng ahensya ng gobyerno at mga kasapi ng National Government, kabilang ang government-owned o -controlled corporations at state universities at colleges, pati na rin ang pribadong sektor upang tumulong sa FDCP na paunlarin at ipatupad ang mga programa at mga aktibidad para sa Philippine Film Industry Month.
