KINUWESTIYON ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang mga senador kung bakit ang construction firm na sangkot sa di umano’y overpriced Makati City building at Iloilo Convention Center ang magtatayo ng bagong P8.9-billion Senate building sa Taguig City.
“May I ask the senators if it is true that the Hilmarc’s is the contractor of the new Senate building being constructed?” ayon kay Pangulong Duterte sa kanyang Talk to the People, araw ng Lunes.
“Is this the same Hilmarc’s contractor that built the Iloilo Convention Center and the Makati City Hall Building 2 that the Senate also investigated during the last administration?” dagdag na pahayag nito.
Sinabi ni Senator Panfilo Lacson na Marso 2019 nang manalo ang Hilmarc Construction Corporation sa bid para sa pagtatayo ng bagong Senate building sa loob ng 1.8-hectare Navy Village sa Taguig City na pinangangasiwaan ng Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA).
Isang notice of award na may petsang Pebrero 12, 2019 at nakalagay sa DPWH website ang nagpapakita rin na ang disenyo at build contract para sa bagong Senate building ay ipinagkaloob sa Hilmarc’s Construction Corporation para maging “bidder with the single calculated and responsive bid.”
Ang pagtatayo ng Senate building ay nagsimula noong Pebrero 2020.
Ang bagong Senate building ay dinisenyo ng AECOM Philippines, isang kompanya na napili matapos ang masusing pagrebisa at ebalwasyon na isinagawa ng Technical Evaluation Committee, BCDA officials, mga senador ng 17th Congress, at Senate community.
May isang Senate probe kaugnay sa di umano’y overpriced Makati City Building Parking 2 at Makati City Science Building noong 2014 hanggang 2016 ang nagbunyag na ang Hilmarc’s Construction Corporation ang siyang contractor ng nasabing gusali. (Daris Jose)
