Japan, nagbigay ng $4.2-M

NAGPALITAN ng diplomatic notes ang Japan at ang International Organization for Migration (IOM) para sa USD4.2 million (P215.9 million) project na makapagbibigay ng “shelter kits, health clinic support, at medical equipment” sa mga lalawigan at ilang bahagi ng Pilipinas na labis na sinalanta ng bagyong Odette noong nakaraang taon.
“Japan, in light of the amicable relations with the Philippines, intends to closely coordinate with the Philippines for the earliest recovery of the affected areas,” ayon sa Embahada, araw ng Huwebes.
Ang proyekto ay bahagi ng USD13 million ( P663 million) Emergency Grant Aid for Typhoon Odette humanitarian assistance activities ng Tokyo sa bansa.
Sa ilalim ng inisyatibang ito, makatatanggap ang IOM ng USD4.2 million para pondohan ang shelter repair kits na ipamamahagi sa 2,420 sambahayan o households; camp coordination at camp management assistance para sa 4,000 internally displaced persons sa 20 evacuation centers; operasyon ng mobile health clinics; capacity building para sa 7,400 individuals; at pagbili ng emergency medical equipment para sa apat na health facilities.
“The project is in partnership with the Catholic Relief Services and CARE Philippines and will indirectly benefit an estimated 64,681 individuals,” ayon sa Embahada.
Ang ‘exchange of notes” ay isinagawa noong Enero 17 sa pagitan ng mga kinatawan mula sa Japanese government at IOM saGeneva, Switzerland.
