Queen Bees and Wannabes: ‘Mean Girls’ Hits PH Cinemas

Catch the latest buzz as ‘Mean Girls’, a fresh take on high school drama by Tina Fey, debuts in Philippine cinemas on February 7.
Join Cady Heron and the iconic Plastics in this must-see comedy.

High school is a world of its own, filled with cliques, drama, and unforgettable moments. On February 7, Philippine cinemas are set to welcome a new addition to the high school movie genre: ‘Mean Girls‘. Directed by the brilliant Tina Fey, this film is a modern twist on the classic teenage narrative, promising laughter, lessons, and a lot of drama.

In the heart of this high-school saga is Cady Heron (played by Angourie Rice), a newcomer not just to North Shore High but to the entire concept of traditional schooling. Raised in South Africa, Cady’s foray into the bewildering world of high school brings a fresh perspective to the typical teenage experience.

Ruling the school are “The Plastics”, the A-list girl clique at North Shore, led by the formidable Regina George (Reneé Rapp). Regina, along with her loyal followers Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika), navigates the school corridors with an iron fist in a velvet glove.

However, the plot thickens when Cady falls for Regina’s ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney). This misstep puts her squarely in Regina’s sights, sparking a series of events that are as hilarious as they are cunning.

With the help of her newfound friends, the outcasts Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), Cady devises a plan to dethrone Regina. What ensues is a clever battle of wits and wills, as Cady learns the hard way that navigating high school politics is no easy feat.

‘Mean Girls‘ is more than just a comedy; it’s a story about finding oneself amidst the chaos of adolescence. It’s about the choices we make and the friends we choose. It’s a reminder that being true to oneself is the bravest thing a teenager can do.

Distributed by Paramount Pictures International, ‘Mean Girls‘ is set to be a hit in Philippine cinemas. Don’t miss out on the laughter, the drama, and the life lessons. Connect with the film using #MeanGirls and follow @paramountpicsph for more updates.
