PSC: 300 para-athletes lumahok sa webinar

Lumahok ang mahigit 300 national para-athletes at coaches sa katatapos na week-long webinar na pinangunahan ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) kaugnay sa pagdiriwang ng National Council on Disability Affairs’ 42nd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week.

Nakipag-tululungan ang PSC sports rehabilitation unit sa Philippine Paralympic Committee (PPC) para sa online seminars ng mga differently-abled.

“Our goal is to raise social media awareness about para-sports, para-athletes and persons with disabilities, and recognize their achievements for the country,” ani PSC sports rehabilitation OIC Rico Barin.

Lumahok ang mga para-athlete mula athletics, sitting volleyball, football, swimming, chess, archery, wheelchair basketball, cycling, dancesport, triathlon, bowling, powerlifting, badminton, table tennis, goalball at boccia sa week-long program mula July 17 hanggang 23.

Pinasalamatan nina PPC president Mike Barreto at secretary-general Walter Torres si PSC chairman William Ramirez at ang sports rehabilitation unit sa kanilang inisyatibo.

“We thank chairman Ramirez for making sure that our para-athletes are educated on sports psychology programs like this to reinforce their training and skills,” ani  Barreto.

“This tribute given to our para-athletes during the NDPR week is a boost in their morale self-esteem, especially at times like this when the pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of sporting events,” hirit ni Torres.

Ilan sa mga paksang tinalakay ay ang body and postural mechanics, at proper mobilization and transfer strategies for para-athletes.

Nagkaroon din ng masayang zumba session sa webinar. Ilan sa mga speaker na lumahok ay mga physical therapists mula sa  PSC sa pangunguna nina Arryl Puchero, Maya Angelou Mel, Jaja Antonio, Riggs Poblete, Christine Magtibay, at Fatima Pereyra.
