‘Cease and desist’ vs MRT 7, binawi ni Belmonte

BINAWI na ni QC Mayor Joy Belmonte ang inisyung ‘cease and desist order’ sa ‘above ground construction’ ng Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 7 sa Quezon Memorial Circle station matapos na maplantsa ang mga usapin.
Ayon kay Belmonte, sa pulong ng mga opisyal ng QC Local Government Unit (LGU), EEI Corporation, San Miguel Corporation, Department of Transportation (DOTr) at iba pang stakeholders, pinakita ang revised design ng istasyon.
Sa nirebisang disenyo, 426 square meter na lang ang area ng construction, mula sa 11,000 sqm. May taas itong 6 meter mula sa dating 12 meter.
Sa panukala, sinasabing magiging ‘utility room’ na lamang ang above-ground structure.
Dahil dito, sinabi ni Belmonte na wala nang ‘obstructions’ sa libingan ni dating Pangulong Manuel Luis Quezon at may ‘open space’ pa para sa mga residente.
Nagpasalamat naman ang DOTr sa tinawag ng ahensyang ‘win-win solution’ na napagkasunduan ng lungsod at concerned agencies.
Magugunitang nitong naka-raang February 18, sinuspinde ng QC LGU ang ‘above ground construction’ ng MRT QMC station upang panatilihin umano ang integridad ng naturang landmark at heritage site.
