Guillermo: Ang Handog ng Obra dominates 4th SINEliksik Bulacan Docufest and Docu Special

CITY OF MALOLOS – The documentary film “Guillermo: Ang Handog ng Obra” bagged four major awards and took home a total of P170,000 cash prize during the 4th SINEliksik Bulacan Docufest and Docu Special held at the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium, Hiyas ng Bulacan Cultural Center in this city recently.
Featuring the life, journey, and works of National Artist for Visual Arts Guillermo Tolentino earned the Best Documentary Film, Best Research, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing during the Araw ng Parangal.
After receiving the award, Andrew Alto De Guzman, director of the documentary film from the town of Pulilan, expressed his gratitude and said that it’s important that the documentaries they create are accurate, wonderful, and presentable to watch.
“We created this film not to win awards but to pay homage to one of Bulacan’s national artist, Guillermo’s contribution in the field of sculpting. Guillermo will always be remembered for his heritage in art,” De Guzman said.
Other winners include “Kol Antonino Buenaventura: Musika para sa Bayan” that won two awards and took home a total of P70,000 cash prize along with two other awards specifically Special Jury Prize and Best Sound Design; and “Maestro Kanor: A Filipino Genius in Music” that won the award for Best Documentary Script with P20,000 cash incentive.
Meanwhile, Atty. Nikki Manuel S. Coronel represented Governor Daniel R. Fernando and delivered his recognition speech that recognizes the roles of Bulakenyo artists in enriching the culture and heritage of the province.
“It is a great honor to be a part of the same heritage where our ancestors came from. They serve as a huge inspiration that the present and future generation should follow as they have contributed well in our society by using their astounding talents in different field in art,” Atty. Coronel said.
Other finalists of SINEliksik Bulacan Docufest including “Buhay at Pag-ibig ni Francisco Balagtas” and “Ang Nawawalang Tinig ng Sirena” both took home P10,000 consolation prize. (BISHOP JESUS “JEMBA” M. BASCO)
