NETFLIX unveiled the trailer for the upcoming film The Call, and it’s enough to keep fans on the edge of their seat.
Starring Park Shin Hye, one of OG K-drama leading ladies, famous for her roles in K-drama shows such as “Stairway to Heaven” (2003), “The Heirs” (2013) and “The Doctors” (2016).
This time, she won’t be battling zombies like her character in #Alive—she will be figuring out a mystery that’s two decades old.
Seo-yeon (Park Shin-hye) comes back home after a long time. She connects an old phone that was in the house and speaks to a stranger named Yeong-sook (Jeon Jong-seo).
Seo-yeon realizes Yeong-sook lives in the same house, but they are 20 years apart, and they be- come friends from then onwards.
“It’s little things like these that change a person’s life.”
Then one day, Seo-yeon and Yeong-sook make a small choice that will change their lives in the time they are in. Yeong-sook saves Seo-yeon’s father, who had previously died 20 years ago, and Seo-yeon tells Yeong- sook her future 20 years later.
However, after Yeong-sook finds out her terrible future, she turns reckless and starts to threaten Seo-yeon!
If you could change your past, what would you change?
In a February 2020 interview, Park Shin Hye revealed why she chose to star in her first thriller film: “This is a genre I haven’t attempted yet, and I chose Call because Seo Yeon’s character was charming. Seo Yeon has a side to her that’s completely different from the righteous characters I’ve portrayed so far, so it felt really new and fun while acting.”
Aside from Park Shin Hye and Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Sung Ryung and Lee El are also starring in Call. Kim Sung Ryung plays the mom of Seo Yeon while Lee El plays the mother of Young Sook. It’s Okay To Not Be Okay star Oh Jung Se is also featured in the movie to- gether with Park Ho San, Lee Dong Hwi and Uhm Chae Young as young Seo Yeon. Di- rected by Lee Chung Hyun.
The film was scheduled for a March 2020 release in theaters, but it was postponed because of the pandemic.
The Call launches globally on Netflix this November 27. (ROHN ROMULO)
