‘Past Lives’, A Must-watch Movie of the Year: Now Showing in Over 140 Cinemas Nationwide

MOVIEGOERS in the Philippines will finally have the chance to experience Past Lives, the romantic movie that captured the hearts of audiences and critics worldwide.

Past Lives is a heartrending modern romance that follows the story of two deeply connected childhood friends who drifted apart. The Korean movie is the directorial debut of writer-director Celine Song and it stars Greta Lee (The Morning ShowRussian Doll), Teo Yoo (New Year BluesPawn) , and John Magaro (The Umbrella Academy, Orange is the New Black).

Past Lives is about the story of Na Young (Greta Lee), a South Korean immigrant whose family moved to Canada when she was a child.

Her relationship with childhood friend Hae Sung (Teo Yoo) is just starting when her parents decide to move to another country.

After twelve years later, Na Young is now Nora, an aspiring playwright in New York City. Hae Sung is an engineering student back in Seoul. They reconnect over Facebook, and soon, their lives revolve around regular Skype calls, with different time zones.

Twelve more years pass, and Nora is still in Manhattan, married to Arthur (John Magaro), a fellow writer.  And after two decades Hae Sung decides to visit New York, and they are reunited. For one fateful week, Nora and Hae Sung grapple with questions of fate, love, and the choices that shape a life.

With a captivating script and stunning visuals, the film has been hailed as one of the best films of the year. Past Lives has received glowing reviews from critics and audiences alike, with many calling it one of the best romantic dramas in recent memory.

Rotten Tomatoes has given the film an approval rating of 98% based on over 200 reviews and an audience score of 94%.

Past Lives is produced by A24 and exclusively distributed in the Philippines by TBA Studios. This marks the third acquisition and distribution partnership between TBA Studios and A24 following the successful Philippine release of the multi-awarded film Everything Everywhere All At Once and The Whale.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Past Lives to the Philippines,” said TBA Studios President and COO Daphne O. Chiu.

“This film is a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece and we are confident that it will leave a lasting impression on everyone who sees it.”

Past Lives is now showing in over 140 theaters nationwide.
