PBBM, hindi dadalo sa UNGA 78 sa New York City

HINDI dadalo si Pangulong  Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa 78th session ng  United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) mula Setyembre 18 hanggang Setyembre 26 sa New York City. 

Gayunman, tiniyak ni  Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo  na  magpapartisipa ang Pilipinas sa  UNGA 78 kung saan ay pangungunahan niya ang  Filipino delegation  na dadalo sa  nasabing  high-level dialogues.

“On behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., I will deliver the Philippine National Statement during the UNGA General Debate,” ani Manalo.

“Guided by the President’s national development and foreign policy agenda, I will articulate the Philippines’ advocacies for respect for the rule of law and ambitious climate action, as well as our achievements and aspirations as a middle-income economy with an important voice in global affairs,” dagdag na wika nito.

Kabilang sa mga Filipino delegation sina Environment Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, Health Secretary Teddy Herbosa, at National Economic Development Authority Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon.

Makakasama rin ng DFA ang  Department of Finance, local executives mula sa  League of Cities of the Philippines, at Special Envoy of the President to UNICEF Monica Louise Prieto-Teodoro.

Maliban sa iba’t ibang pagpupulong ukol sa international issues, sinabi ni Manalo na nag-organisa ang Pilipinas ng side events kabilang na ang “ministerial roundtable on migration, environment, at climate change” sa Asia-Pacific region na nakatakda sa Setyembre sa  21.

Inaasahan naman na lalagda ng isang bagong kasunduan si Manalo sa ilalim ng “1982 UNCLOS on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction” o “High Seas Treaty” sa Setyembre 20.

“I look forward to bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from a number of countries and with key UN officials. I will sign a number of MoUs [memorandum of understanding] establishing political consultation mechanisms with a number of bilateral partners, and discuss a broad range of matters of mutual interest at these meetings,” ayon kay  Manalo.

“I also look forward to an enriching discussion on Philippine foreign policy with friends in the Asia Society,” anito.

Taong 2022, binanggit ni Pangulong Marcos ang iba’t ibang uspain kabilang na ang climate change, peace and stability, at food security sa kanyang naging talumpati sa UNGA. (Daris Jose)
