PDu30, opisyal nang pinagbawalan ang mga Cabinet officials na dumalo sa Senate Pharmally probe

OPISYAL nang ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa mga opisyal at empleyado ng executive department na tigilan na ang pagdalo sa Senate investigation ng P8 billion medical supply na binili ng pamahalaan mula sa Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation.

Ang kautusan ay ipinalabas sa pamamagitan ng October 4 memo na tinintahan ni Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea at ipinalabas araw ng Martes.

“The President has directed all officials and employees of the executive department to no longer appear or attend the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings effective immediately,” ang nakasaad sa memo.

“Instead, they should focus all their time and effort on the implementation of measures to address the current state of calamity on account of COVID-19, and in carrying out their other functions,” ang mababasa pa rin sa memo.

Nakasaad sa memo na dumating na sa punto na ang mga iniimbitahan sa Senate investigation na mula sa ilalim ng executive department ay labis nang naapektuhan ang kakayahan at ng pamahalaan na gampanan ang mandato nito sa gitna ng pandemya.

Dahil dito, inakusahan ng memo ang Senado na lumagpas na sa kapangyarihan nito na hawakan ang mga taong nais ng mga itong panagutin.

“It has become evident that the said hearings are conducted not in aid of legislation, but to identify persons to hold accountable for alleged irregularities already punishable under existing laws,” ayon sa memo.

“In so doing, the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has stepped into the mandates of other branches of government and has deprived itself of the only basis to compel attendance to its hearings,” dagdag pa ng memo.

Samantala, hindi naman dumalo si Health Secretary Francisco Duque III sa Senate probe, araw ng Martes dahil na rin sa utos ni Pangulong Duterte.  (Daris Jose)
