VACCINATION SITES SA POOLING CENTER, COMELEC, HINDI PABOR

HINDI pabor ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa mungkahi ng  Department of Health (DOH) na maglagay ng vaccination sites malapit sa  polling centers sa May 9, election.

Ayon kay Comelec Commissioner George Garcia, nais nilang tumutok  sa main event sa araw na iyon na ang mga mamamayang Pilipino ay bumoto.

“Personally, as a member of the Commission, I think it is not proper with all due respect to the DOH. Of course, we have to focus on the election first which means we have to allow our voters to vote first,” sabi ni Garcia sa  Kapihan Sa Manila Bay nitong Miyerkules.

Sinabi ng opisyal ng poll body na ayaw din nilang lumikha ng kalituhan sa araw ng botohan.

Aniya, maaaring matakot pumunta ang mga botante sa presinto lalo na kapag hindi bakunado dahil maaari aniyang isipin nila na requirement ang pagbabakuna.

Gayunman, sinabi ni Garcia na hindi pa ito nakakatanggap ng pormal na komunikasyon mula sa DOH sa nasabing mungkahi .

“To date, personally, my office has not received any intention on the part of the DOH, or letter of communication, signifying their intention to put-up vaccination centers,” sabi ng komisyuner.

Pero nilinaw nito  ang suporta sa vaccination program ng gobyerno.

“I am fully supportive of the vaccination, but it is not the proper time. May 9 is for the election, let’s leave it at that for the election. Elections are only happening every three years, or every six years in the case of national election,” ani Garcia.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire na tinatalakay na nila ang posibilidad nang paglalagay ng vaccination sites malapit sa voting centers upang makapagbakuna ng mas marami pang indibidwal. (GENE ADSUARA)
