TINATAYANG umabot na sa 1,839,846 college students ang nabakunahan laban sa Covid-19.
Sinabi ni Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chair J. Prospero de Vera III na ang pigura ay katumbas ng 45.91% tertiary student population na umabot na sa 4,007,795 “as of November 25.”
“That is a significant increase because after the first two weeks of vaccination in October our vaccination rate was less than 30 percent. We’re now at almost 56 percent,” ani de Vera.
Iyon nga lamang, nananatiling may problema sa ilang lugar sa bansa pagdating sa tertiary students vaccination partikular na sa Region 5 (Bicol), Region 12 (Soccsksargen) at Region 4B (Mimaropa).
“Some of these, like in Mimaropa, because of the island character of the area but there are regions like Region 9 where the vaccination level is 75 percent already. So, what we’re doing in these areas is we’re pushing for school-based vaccination,” dagdag na pahahag nito.
Nauna rito, sinabi ng CHED na mas madali lamang ang school-based vaccination dahil may master lists ang eskuwelahan ng vaccinated at unvaccinated students at mayroong pasilidad ang mga ito para sa tamang inoculation activities.
Samantala, may 239,431 o 82.45% ng 290,380 higher education institution (HEI) personnel, kapuwa teaching at non-teaching, ang nabakunahan na.
Para sa three-day national vaccination program na nagtapos kahapon, Disyembre 1, may 375 HEIs at 10,504 student at personnel volunteers ang nagpartisipa, na may 244,064 tertiary students ang target na mabakunahan.
May 166 HEIs naman ang nag-alok ng kanilang pasilidad bilang vaccination sites. (Daris Jose)
