Dwayne Johnson Reveals First Look at Krypto for ‘DC League of Super-Pets’

DWAYNE Johnson reveals the first look at Krypto the Superdog in a video announcement for the animated DC League of Super-Pets film.

Based on the DC Comics team of the same name, the film will center on the pets of some of the most iconic heroes led by Krypto as they form their own crime-fighting team in the absence of their owners. It was previously believed that the film would only feature the appearance of Krypto and potentially Streaky the Supercat, though the team is expanding for the adventure.

The project was first announced in 2018 with Jared Stern, co-writer of Warner Bros.’ hit The LEGO Batman Movie, signing on to write and co-direct the project. Just over a year later, Sam Levine joined to make his directorial debut on the project alongside Stern with a May 20, 2022 release date set and last year’s DC FanDome offering a brief teaser of the character. After word initially went quiet on the project, this May revealed that Johnson found his second DC Comics and superhero project by signing on to star as Krypto.

A few weeks after it was announced the Black Adam star joined the film as the Man of Steel’s canine, Johnson took to Instagram to share the first look at Krypto the Superdog from the animated project. The video announcement has also revealed the full cast for DC League of Super-Pets, including Kevin Hart, John Krasinski, Keanu Reeves, Kate McKinnon and more.

The new video announcement may not have been much in the way of giving viewers a look at what to expect from the animated story, it’s a nonetheless exciting teaser for fans. Featuring John Williams’ iconic rousing score from 1978’s Superman, the video does nicely to create a sense of wonder in the viewer and anticipation for Krypto to finally make his big screen debut. Not to mention the revelation of its ensemble cast joining Johnson, including frequent (and hilarious) screen partner Hart and John Wick himself.

Though Johnson’s announcement confirms that Stern is still writing and directing, it is interesting to note that Levine no longer seems to be attached to the project. Why that is has yet to be revealed, but even without him co-directing, DC League of Super-Pets still has a lot of things going for it in a big way. With production currently underway on both it and Black Adam, fans should look forward to getting new glimpses from both in the coming months. (source: screenrant.com)
