Team Philippines palaban sa 2023 SEAG

DAHIL hindi inaasahang lalaban ang host Cambodia para sa overall crown ay magiging labu-labo ang 32nd Southeast Asian Games sa Mayo ng 2023.
Kumpiyansa si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino na makikipag-agawan sa overall title ang mga Pinoy athletes.
Ito ay makaraang tumapos sa fourth place ang Team Philippines sa nakaraang SEA Games sa Hanoi na dinomina ng mga Vietnamese.
“If we could train longer, I’m optimistic the overall race would be anybody’s ballgame,” ani Tolentino kahapon sa online Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum.
Para mapalakas ang tsansa sa korona ay lalahok ang Pinas sa lahat ng 40 events na ilalatag ng mga Cambodians sa biennial meet.
“Salihan natin lahat sa Cambodia. We’re just waiting for the final list of events,” sabi ni Tolentino.
Tumapos ang mga Pinoy athletes sa fourth place sa Vetnam edition bitbit ang 52 gold, 70 silver at 104 bronze medals.
Nauna nang inangkin ng Pinas ang overall crown noong 2019 edition.
“If fair game, we could have been second. We have great athletes. Of our 70 silver medals, 42 were from subjective sports including 27 were the opponents were from host Vietnam,” dagdag ng POC at cycling federation chief.
