Jurassic World Dominion Star Reveals New Character Backstory Details

Jurassic World Dominion star DeWanda Wise reveals details about her character’s backstory.

The upcoming film will be the sixth in the franchise and will apparently conclude the story that first started with Jurassic Park in 1993. Set four years after the conclusion of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where the original theme parks were destroyed by the eruption of a volcano, Jurassic World Dominion finds the remaining dinosaurs living alongside humans.

The new entry will see many of the original cast members return to their roles including Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, and BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu. They will be joined by Jurassic World leads Chris Pratt as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing.

Jurassic World Dominion will also introduce Wise’s new character Kayla Watts, a former Air Force pilot who will seemingly assist Owen and Claire during the events of the film. Not much information regarding Watts has been previously revealed other than the fact that she is confirmed to be bisexual. Wise recently talked about the importance of LGBTQ+ representation in Jurassic World Dominion and other major franchises.

Wise’s description makes Watts sound like a rich yet jaded character who was beaten down by whatever pressures she faced in the past to use other people for her personal gain. It seems her character’s moral compass is at odds with her actions, but her disillusionment with the world has kept her from finding the right path.

However, by the time Jurassic World Dominion begins, Watts has reached a breaking point and is seemingly ready to finally do what she deems is right. Director Colin Trevorrow has previously called Watts a defining character of the Jurassic World franchise as she can be seen as a role model for young girls especially.

And in time for the highly awaited opening of Jurassic World Dominion in the Philippine cinemas nationwide on June 8 (also available on select 3D and 2D IMAX screens), Universal Pictures International, SM Malls and Pacific Licensing Studios replicate the world of dinosaurs which is currently on display at SM North Edsa – The Block Atrium, featuring life-size statues of dinosaurs Blue and Beta featured in the film.

The recent launch of the dinosaur world on display allows kids and adults alike to take photos with the dinosaur replicas, put on an archaeologist’s hat in search of dinosaur fossils, and purchase movie-inspired shirts, socks, and toys to name a few from the numerous items available. The display also includes a booth where the public can easily book and purchase tickets for the movie ahead of its opening day.
