PBBM, nakipagpulong sa int’l CEOs

NAKIPAGPULONG si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., sa international chief executive officers (CEOs) para pag-usapan ang mga potensiyal na business opportunities sa Pilipinas.

Ang  breakfast meeting ay idinaos sa pagitan nina Pangulong  Marcos at world’s top CEOs sa  Davos, Switzerland para magawa ng Pangulo na maipresenta ang investment climate sa Pilipinas,” ayon kay Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil.

Ani Garafil, kasama ng Pangulo ang kanyang official Philippine delegation na kinabibilangan ng kanyang Cabinet at top Philippine business leaders.

“Top international CEOs gathered for a breakfast meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., his Cabinet, official delegation and the 7 top Philippine CEOs to discuss the investment climate in the Philippines and to find ways to facilitate their business operations in the country,” ang wika ni Garafil.

Nagkaroon din ng pagkakataon si Pangulong Marcos na makilala at makapulong si  Gokul Laroia, chairperson ng investment banking powerhouse Morgan Stanley for Asia Pacific, sa sidelines ng kanyang naging partisipasyon sa World Economic Forum (WEF).

Ani Garafil si Laroia, sa nasabing pulong kasama ang Pangulo, tinalakay ang plano ng  Morgan Stanley na magkaroon ng opisina sa Maynila.

“Mr. Laroia informed President Marcos that the top global investment bank will set up office in Manila,” aniya pa rin .

Si Pangulong Marcos ay kasalukuyang nasa  Davos  para ipresenta ang  “current state” ng Philippine economy at manghikayat ng mas maraming investors.

Araw ng Martes, (Zurich time), nagkaroon din ng serye ng  business meetings si Pangulong Marcos sa WEF sidelines, kabilang na rito ang pakikipagpulong sa mga opisyal ng mining at commodities training giant na Glencore.

Si Pangulong Marcos at ang mga Glencore officials sa pangunguna ng kanilang CEO, Gary Nagle, ay tinalakay ang layunin ng Swiss multinational firm na  palawigin ang business operations nito sa Pilipinas.

“On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) organized sessions, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual met with Mr. Gary Nagle, Chief Executive Officer of Glencore, on Tuesday to discuss the company’s interest to expand mining and processing operations in the Philippines,” ayon kay Garafil.

Ayon pa kay Garafil, ang Glencore, isa sa pinakamalaki at globally diversified natural resource companies sa buong mundo, nakikita ang Pilipinas bilang isang “potential partner to process nickel and copper resources responsibly and sustainably for use in electric vehicle batteries and energy storage units.”

” Glencore is engaged in a wide range of commodity production, sourcing, processing, refining, transporting, storage, financing and supply. With 60 mining, metallurgical and oil production assets worldwide, Glencore is dedicated to responsibly sourcing the commodities that drive progress in everyday life,” ayon sa ulat.

Samantala, isang “warm welcome” naman ang natanggap ng Pangulo mula kay WEF founder at chairperson Klaus Schwab, araw ng Martes, ang sinabi ng  Office of the President (OP) sa Facebook post.

Nakakuha naman ng  “a very positive response” ang investment pitch ng Pangulo mula sa top chief executive officers at  investment experts ng buong mundo na dumalo sa  WEF. (Daris Jose)
