PBBM, naniniwalang walang dahilan para magtayo ang Pinas ng armory nito

WALANG nakikitang dahilan si Pangulong  Ferdinand Marcos Jr. para magtayo ang Pilipinas ng  armory nito.

Para sa Chief Executive hindi palaging sagot ang “military solution” sa mga usapin.

Sa isinagawang dayalogo kasama si  World Economic Forum (WEF) President Borge Brende sa  Davos, tinanong si Pangulong Marcos kung kinokonsidera nito na doblehin  ang defense budget gaya ng ginagawa ng Japan.

Itinaas kasi ng Japan ang defense spending nito ng 2% sa kanilang gross domestic product (GDP) sa loob ng limang taon.

Bilang tugon, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos na  “I think to an extent but not – because the belief is that first of all, there is no point in the Philippines building up its armory.”

Ang paliwanag pa nito, wala naman sa  “economic situation” ang Pilipinas para magtayo ng armory nito.

“More importantly, perhaps is our abiding belief that the solutions are not going to be military,” ayon sa Pangulo.

Ani Pangulong Marcos, “resorting to militaristic solutions will “end badly for everyone involved and even those who are not involved.”

Tinukoy nito ang  Russia-Ukraine war, labis na nakaapekto sa ibang bansa kabilang na ang Pilipinas.

“I think all of us were quite surprised, especially us in the Philippines, to think that a war in Eastern Europe would affect agriculture in the Philippines and I guess it just goes to show how well connected that is,” ani Pangulong Marcos.

“If a similar situation would arise in the region, then I would say it would be disastrous for the rest of the world as well, not only for the region but for the rest of the world,” wika pa ni Pangulong Marcos. (Daris Jose)
