PBBM, pinuri ang Philippine Embassy sa Kuwait, DMW para sa walang humpay na paghahabol at makamit ang katarungan para kay Jullebee Ranara

PINURI ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.  ang  Philippine Embassy sa Kuwait, ang  Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), at ang mga Kuwaiti authorities para sa walang humpay na paghahabol at makamit ang hustisya para sa pinatay na OFW na si Jullebee Ranara matapos hatulan ng guilty ng Kuwaiti juvenile court ang amo na nasa likod ng nasabing krimen. 

“I commend the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, the Department of Migrant Workers, and the Kuwaiti Authorities for their continued pursuit of justice for our OFW, Jullebee Ranara. We hope that the appeal process will be conducted fairly, and justice will be served accordingly,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos sa isang mensahe na naka-post sa social media.

“I take comfort in thinking that Toots (the late DMW Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople) and Jullebee are looking down from heaven with smiles. Their legacy serves as a reminder of our duty to protect and support our fellow countrymen, regardless of where in the world they may be,” ayon pa rin sa Pangulo.

Sa ulat, sinabi ng DFA na hinatulan ng 15 taong pagkakakulong ang akusado dahil sa kasong pagpatay.

Nakatanggap din siya ng isang taong sentensiya sa pagkakulong dahil sa pagmamaneho nang walang lisensya.

Sinabi ng DFA na ang mas mababang parusa ay dahil sa pagiging menor de edad ng akusado. Mayroon siyang 30 araw para iapela ang hatol sa Court of First Instance.

“The family of the OFW has been informed and is grateful for the assistance provided them by the government,” anang DFA.

“The Philippine Government is similarly appreciative of the efforts undertaken by the Kuwaiti authorities to effect a speedy resolution of the case, in the pursuit of justice for our slain kababayan,” dagdag pa ng ahensya.

Ang nasunog na katawan ng 35-anyos na si Ranara ay natagpuan sa disyerto noong Enero.

Arestado ang 17-anyos na anak kaugnay ng krimen. Siya rin ay napaulat na nanggahasa at nakabuntis kay Ranara.

Nangako ang Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah noong Enero na mapaparusahan ang pumatay kay Ranara. (Daris Jose)
