Two Young Souls Navigate the Unpredictable Twists and Turns of Fate in “When Magic Hurts”

‘WHEN Magic Hurts’ is a romantic comedy film about a docile young guy, Ernest (played by Beaver Magtalas) and a miserable girl, Olivia (played by Mutya Orquia) stumble upon each, other in the breathtaking mountains of Atok, Benguet and find comfort mutually with the help of love and magic.

Synopsis: “In the stunning Atok Mountain of Benguet, fate orchestrates an encounter between a young man and a woman who each carry their own burdens. The young man is determined to prove himself to his parents, while the young woman is still reeling from the loss of both her parents.

“Once a believer in magic, the young woman now finds herself disillusioned and unable to trust in its power. But when their paths cross, a spark ignites between them, and they find solace in each other’s company.

“Will this meeting be the start of something magical, or will their pasts continue to haunt them? Can magic truly fulfill our deepest desires, or will only lead to heartbreak and despair? Get ready for a breathtaking adventure filled with hope, love, and the mysteries of the universe as these two young souls navigate the unpredictable twists and turns of fate.”

In the minds of young children, the word ‘magic’ brings joy and delight.

Imagine a word where magic is promised to be the answer to all your problems. A word where it’s believe that all your heart’s desires can be fulfilled with just a wave of a wand. But what happens when that magic becomes the source of your pain? What happens when the very thing you believed in turns against you?

What if you’re Olivia? A child who was promised the hope of magic, but now sees it a source of pain. How can she trust and believe that magic will fulfill the desires of her heart and mind? The very thought of it fills her with doubt and fear.

What if you’re Ernest? A child who promised to do everything in his power to keep his family together. How can he reconcile the desire of magic of love with the choice between his heart and his resolve? He’s torn between his family and his own dreams.

In a place where everything is seemingly controlled by magic of love, how can Trixie (Maxine Trinidad) fight for her feelings when she knows that doing so could end up hurting everyone involved? The stakes are high, and she must choose between her heart and the greater good.

The cold and beautiful Atok Mountain of Benguet will bring to life a cast of characters who we will come to know and love.

“When Magic Hurts” is written and directed by Gabby Ramos and co-written by Jerome Baguio. Showing in PH cinemas in May and it will have another premiere night at SM City Cabanatuan on April 19.
