Australia, mamumuhunan ng $20M para palakasin ang justice system ng Pinas

SINABI ng Australian government na maglalaan ito ng $20 million investment para suportahan ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa pag-reporma ng sistema ng hustisya sa bansa.

”The Prime Minister also announced a new $20 million investment to support the Philippines to reform, and improve access to, its justice system,” ang nakasaad sa media release mula sa tanggapan ni Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Sa joint press statement, sinabi ni Albanese na ang ugnayan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Australia ay ”strengthened by warm and close personal connections, including through the over 400,000 Australians with Filipino heritage who make a wonderful contribution to modern multicultural Australia.”

Aniya pa, siya at si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ay nagkaroon ng produktibong pag-uusap ukol sa pagsusulong ng mahigpit na pagtutulungan bilang strategic partners.

Si Pangulong Marcos ay nasa Australia para sa isang official visit, bago pa siya dumalo sa special summit ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) sa Melbourne sa susunod na linggo.

”We are ambitious for what we can achieve together and I’m pleased that we are working actively to build a peaceful region where international law is respected and waterways are open for trade,” ayon kay Albanese.

Winika pa ni Albanese na ang strategic partnership sa Pilipinas ay isang “key pillar” ng commitment sa pagbuo ng relasyon sa rehiyon.

”I look forward to continuing to work with the Philippines and with President Marcos to meet the challenges of our times and realise our shared vision for an open, peaceful, stable and prosperous region,” ayon pa rin kay Albanese.

Nauna rito, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos na ang Pilipinas at Australia ay dapat na tumututol sa mga aksyon na ”clearly denigrate the rule of law”, hangad na matutugunan ng Australia ang mga hamon sa Indo-Pacific region. (Daris Jose)
