COA piniga sa P16-M safehouse rentals na nagastos ng OVP sa loob ng 11 araw

GUMASTOS ang tanggapan ni Vice President Sara Duterte ng P16 million na hinugot sa P125 million confidential funds noong 2022, kabayaran para sa renta ng mga safe house para sa 11 araw.

Ang OVP accomplishment report ukol sa P125 million confidential fund nito noong 2022 ang ipinresenta ng Commission on Audit sa isinagsagawang imbestigasyon ng House good government and public accountability committee ukol sa paggamit ng budget ng OVP.

Kinumpirma ni Atty. Gloria Camora ng Intelligence and Confidential Funds Audit Office ng COA na ang OVP ay nagbayad ng P16 million na makikita sa 34 acknowledgement receipts na isinumite nito na may petsang December 21 hanggang 31.

Sinabi ni Antipolo Representative Romeo Acop, isang retired police official, may isang resibo aniya ang nagpapakita na P500,000 ang naging kabayaran para sa isang safe house.

Nangangahulugan ayon Camora na ang OVP ay gumastos ng P45,000 kada araw para sa isang safehouse.

“It would amount P45,454.55 per day,” aniya pa rin.

Dahil naguguluhan, hiningan ni Acop si Camora ng detalye sa safe house para mabigyang katuwiran ang malaking halaga para sa rental, subalit wala namang hawak na karagdagang impormasyon ang COA.

“We do not have information on the safe houses,” ani Camora.

Ang P125 million confidential fund ng OVP ay hindi hinugot mula sa 2022 national budget, kundi ipinalabas ng Department of Budget and Management mula sa contingent fund ni President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

At sa tanong kung ang P16 million na ginastos sa mga safe house ay makatarungan, ininguso ng OVP ang position paper sa nagpapatuloy na House inquiry na nagsasaad na ang House investigation ay ‘is not in aid of legislation.’

“It becomes completely unnecessary for the Committee to belabor and pursue a legislative inquiry into the budget utilization and accomplishment of the Office because the data has already been provided during the budget deliberations in the Committee on Appropriations, and that further information needed may be verified through the COA,” ayon kay OVP.

“The absence of any legislative objective or outcome and the lack of clarity in the rules as to jurisdiction and power of the Committee, does not satisfy the requirements enshrined in Article VI, Section 21 of the Constitution on inquiries in aid of legislation. We therefore respectfully request the Committee to terminate its inquiry on the matter,” dagdag na wika ng OVP. (Daris Jose)
