Disney Drops Trailer for ‘Cruella’ Starring Emma Stone as the Fashionable Villain

DISNEY has released the first trailer for the upcomong film Cruella, a live-action movie exploring the backstory of the iconic villain Cruella de Vil.

The trailer gave us a glimpse of Emma Stone as the fashionable villain of 101 Dalmatians.

The live-action remake will follow Cruella in her younger years during the 1970s, before she became the iconic baddie that’s obsessed with the skin of spotted pups.

Set amidst the punk rock revolution, Cruella‘s origin story begins with a young grifter named Estella, who is determined to become known for her creative designs. Soon, she catches the interest of the fashion legend Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), which will set in motion a series of events that will transform Estella into the brilliant, bad, and a little bit mad, Cruella.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and with Emma Stone as the title character, Cruella is based on the character Cruella de Vil from Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians. From a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara.

Cruella de Vil is best remembered for her animated version in Disney’s 1961 movie One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and later for its first live-action version in the 1996 remake and its sequel, where Glenn Close played the legendary villain.

Cruella, however, is different from previous versions as it will take viewers back to the 1970s to follow young fashion designer Estella de Vil as she becomes obsessed with dogs’ skins and later becomes the ruthless and terrifying villain everyone now knows.
