First Look At Ryan Gosling As Shirtless and Older Ken, Barbie Fans Reacted

WARNER Bros. has debuted the first look at Ryan Gosling’s Ken in the live-action Barbie movie.

The two-time Oscar nominee is shown sporting bleach blonde hair and a cutoff jean jacket that highlights Gosling’s incredible physique.

Following in the footsteps of the first image of Margot Robbie as Barbie, the debut of Gosling’s shirtless Ken portrayal is another excellent look at the movie. The almost all-pink design of the location he’s standing in front of matches what was seen before.

The Ken-labeled underwear, all-jean apparel, bleach blonde hair, and muscular look of Ryan Gosling’s Barbie character immediately provide an idea of what Ken will be like.

There have been reports that Barbie features multiple versions of Barbie and Ken, so it will be fascinating to see if other versions of Ken have a similar design to them.

Meanwhile, Barbie fans have found themselves divided over the latest image to emerge from the film that shows Ryan as an older Ken.

But the new image of Gosling highlights his six-pack abs, spray-tan and bleach blonde hair – the likes of which makes him appear pretty convincing as a comical “perfect” boyfriend.

And regardless of what fans online might think about Gosling as Ken, it’s pretty hard to deny that he looks great for 41.

While Robbie’s Barbie and Gosling’s Ken have not been shown together, it is easy to see how well they will work together. This should also continue to raise excitement for the potential photo reveals of Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp, Issa Rae, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, and the rest of Barbie’s all-star cast.

Anyway, after decades of being an iconic toy line for Mattel, the Barbie brand is venturing to Hollywood like never before.

There have been multiple attempts to make a live-action Barbie movie over the years, with Amy Schumer previously attached to lead a film.

However, the project’s changes in development led to Little Women director Greta Gerwig taking control and Margot Robbie becoming the new face of Barbie.

The film has certainly been a long time in the making, with initial reports about its production emerging as far back as 2009. Several high profile names such as Diablo Cody, Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway were all associated with the film at one point or another, but it wasn’t until Robbie, Gerwig and Noah Baumbach came onboard that things really began to gel.

Barbie is currently filming in England, with an official release date set for July 21, 2023. (source: screenrant.com)
