Hall of Famers, sinala ng PSC

INUMPISAHAN na ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang pagpili sa mga ilalagak sa 2020 Philippine Sports Hall of Fame kahapon (Martes) ng umaga sa PhilSports Complex sa Pasig City.
Nangunguna sa Philippine Sports Hall of Fame (PHOF) 2020 Committee sina PSC Chairman William Ramirez bilang tagapangulo, at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham Tolentino na tatalakay sa mga nominasyon at pagpili ng mga kandidato.
“We want to get a good lead time since the selection process is an arduous exercise. We have a lot of athletes truly deserving to be enshrined in Hall of Fame,” esplika ni Ramirez nitong Lunes. “We hope to get more nominations this edition.”
Magsasadya rin sa okasyon ang miyembro ng screening na binubuo nina Games and Amusement Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham Mitra, POC Secretary General Edwin Gastanes, Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines o PhilCycling Secretary General Avelino Sumagui; University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Executive Director Rene Saguisag Jr., at Philippine Olympians Association President Gilian Akiko Guevara.
Ang HOF o Republic Act No. 8757 ang pagkilala sa mga Pilipinong atleta, coach, at trainor na nagbigay ng kanilang buong kakayanan, talino at husay para sa iaangat ng bansa maliban sa pagbibigay dangal at prestihiyo sa lahing Pilipino sa kabuuang ng kanilan career at pagpapakita ng mabuting ugali bilang atleta.
Unang qualification ang nanalo dapat ng gold medal sa Southeast Asian Games, silver medal sa Asian Games o Asian Cup o regional games, bronze medal sa Olympics, o isang world championship title alinman sa professional o amateur sports.
Ilan sa mga nakalipas na taong nahanay na awardees sina boxing legend Gabriel Elorde, chess player Eugenio Torre, tracksters Lydia de Vega Mercado, at bowlers Rafael ‘Paeng’ Nepomuceno, Olivia ‘Bong’ Coo at iba pa. (REC)
