Landbank, nag-remit ng P50B para sa Maharlika fund

NAG-REMIT ang state-owned Land Bank of the Philippines sa Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) ng mandatory contribution nito para sa initial capital ng Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) .
Ang MIF ang “very first sovereign wealth fund” ng bansa.
Sinabi ng Landbank na nag-remit o nag-entrega ito sa BTr ng P50-billion contribution para sa Maharlika Investment Corporation (MIC) gaya ng nakamandato sa Republic Act No. 11954, lumikha sa MIF.
Ang pagre-remit ng Land Bank makaraan ang ilang buwan ay matapos na ianunsyo ni Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno, chairman ng Landbank, na inaprubahan ng lender’s Board ang P50 billion investment sa MIC.
Ang MIC ay isang government-owned company, mangangasiwa sa MIF, “a pool of funds sourced from state-run financial institutions that will be invested in high-impact projects, real estate, as well as in financial instruments.”
Sinabi ni Diokno na ang P50-billion investment ng Landbank sa MIF “has already been settled with the BTr on Thursday, 14 September 2023, following the enactment of the MIF enabling law and the issuance of its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) by the BTr.”
Ang IRR ng MIF law ay ipinalabas noong nakaraang buwan.
“We are witnessing a growing interest for investments in the MIF from multilateral financial institutions and foreign investors. With the regulatory requirements in place, and after securing the seed capital from state-run institutions, we are confident that the Fund will be operational by year end,” ani Diokno. (Daris Jose)
