Latest ‘Sonic 2’ Trailer at Super Speed Features Idris Elba as Sexy Knuckles

THE latest trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which flies by at super speed, actually features an image of Idris Elba as a sexy Knuckles.

The first Sonic the Hedgehog was one of the few box office successes of 2020, and it also earned positive reviews to boot. As a result, the upcoming sequel is by far one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Once again directed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog 2features the returns of Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular speedster and Jim Carrey as his nemesis Dr. Robotnik.

This time around, Dr. Robotnik has teamed up with a character that will be familiar to fans of the Sonic games: Knuckles the Echidna. Idris Elba voices the hot-headed bad guy, and he’s already set to receive his own spinoff TV series.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Dr. Robotnik and Knuckles are dead set on finding the Chaos Emerald so they can conquer the world, and it’s up to Sonic and his pal Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) to stop them.

The movie also stars James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, and Adam Pally.

On Sunday, Schwartz surprised fans on social media with the newest Sonic the Hedgehog 2trailer. Only, it’s played at a super fast, Sonic-approved speed.

The regular speed trailer is playing. Still, there are some really excellent Easter eggs tucked into today’s trailer, including an image of Elba as a sexy Knuckles. Schwartz followed up the trailer post with a closer look at some of his favorite shots.

The concept of a sexy Knuckles has fascinated the internet since Elba was cast as the character. Everyone from Schwartz to Elba himself have chimed in on whether the echidna can be considered sexy inSonic the Hedgehog 2.

For his part, Elba said it wasn’t what he was going for, but Schwartz and his Space Force co-stars later decreed that there isn’t a part Elba can play that isn’t attractive. Evidently, the sexy Knuckles discourse has become so large that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is making use of it in its marketing.

Sadly, latest trailer likely won’t include that glorious shot of Elba as the sexy Knuckles. Assuming that the super fast trailer was actually just a joke, the official Sonic the Hedgehog 2 video will probably include more footage from the movie itself. Of course, we could end up being proven wrong.
