P5.768 trillion 2024 national budget, pirmado na ni PBBM

PINANGUNAHAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang ceremonial signing ng P5.768-trillion 2024 national budget, araw ng Miyerkules, nanawagan sa mga ahensiya na isagawa ang expenditure program na naaayon sa batas at kilalanin ang mga taxpayers na naging dahilan kung bakit naging posible ang budget para sa susunod na taon.

Sa nasabing event, pinaalalahanan ni Pangulong Marcos ang mga ahensiya na magpapatupad ng expenditure program na labanan ang red tape “that leads to underspending and overspending that disregards legal guardrails,” emphasizing further that these are ‘two sides of the same coin.’

“Implementation delay and illegal deviations inflict the same havoc of denying the people of the progress and development that they deserve,” aniya pa rin.

“So, with this reminder comes the most important budget commandment that we must all receive. We are working for the people not for ourselves. We are working for the country not for ourselves,” dagdag na pahayag ng Pangulo.

Ang nangyaring signing ceremony ay renewal ng annual social contract ng gobyerno sa mga taxpayers, na kung ano ang kanilang binayaran ay “will be rebated to them in full.”

Ayon sa Chief Executive, nakadetalye sa 2024 national budget ang battle plan ng gobyerno sa paglaban sa kahirapan at kamangmangan, pagpo-produce ng pagkain at tuldukan ang pagkagutom, protektahan ang mga bahay o tahanan, I-secure ang mga border, panatilihing malusog ang mga mamamayan , lumikha ng hanapbuhay at pondohan ang pangkabuhayan.

“It is not only intended to pay for the overhead of the government’s bureaucratic operations but also to fund the elimination of problems that the nation must overcome,” ang wika ng Pangulo.

“And although he wishes to wipeout in one budget cycle all the government’s infrastructure backlog, it is curtailed by what the State can collect and by what the tax coffers contain,” dagdag na pahayag ng Punong Ehekutibo.

“We can be reckless, take the easy path, borrow, let our children pick today’s tab up tomorrow. But debt is not the kind of inheritance that we want to leave those who will come after us,” lahad ng Pangulo.

“Good fiscal stewardship imposes upon us the discipline not to be led into the temptation of bloating what we owe. Good government dictates upon us the duty to spend the appropriations we have cobbled together for the correct purposes, the right way, on time, and on budget,” litaniya ng Pangulo.

Ang P5.768 trillion-General Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2024 ay 9.5% na mas mataas kumpara sa nakalipas na fiscal year, at nilikha para panatilihin ang high-growth trajectory ng bansa.

Inaasahan naman ng administrasyon na ang tuwirang implementasyon ng 2024 national budget na mayroong Medium-Term Fiscal Framework, ang 8-point Socioeconomic Agenda, at Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 ay magsisilbing gabay at blueprint. (Daris Jose)
