Pagpapalabas ng 92 milyong nat’l IDs sa taong 2023 itinutulak

IPINAG-UTOS ni  Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa  Philippine Statistics Authority  ang pagpapalabas ng 30 milyong national IDs bago matapos ang taong 2022.

Gusto rin ni PBBM na maabot ang “target goal” na 92 milyon sa kalagitnaan ng susunod na taon.

Tinukoy ng Pangulo  ang mahalagang gampanin ng  digital transformation.

Sa kanyang unang State of the Nation Address (SONA) sa  Batasang Pambansa sa Quezon City, araw ng Lunes, Hulyo 25, sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos  na napakahalaga ng national ID sa tinatawag na ‘seamless  transactions’ sa pagitan ng mga mamamayan at national at local governments.

“The National ID will play an important part in this digital transformation. For citizens to be able to seamlessly transact with government, their identity must be verifiable,” anito.

“The target is to accomplish the issuance of about 92-million IDs by the middle of 2023,” aniya pa rin.

At upang  magamit ng maayos ang sistema, ipinag-utos nito sa  Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) “to digitize and harmonize government databases and have their data readily shared across departments and agencies.”

“(The DICT) has the daunting task of transforming our government into an agile bureaucracy that is responsive to the needs of the public, provide good and solid data to ensure informed decision making, and allow secure and seamless access to public services,” ang pahayag ng Punong Ehekutibo.

“I have therefore tasked DICT Secretary Ivan Uy to deploy digital connectivity across our various islands,” ayon pa rin sa Pangulo.

Ang mga nasabing proyekto ani Pangulong Marcos ay National Broadband Plan  na naglalayong lumikha ng  isang single digital backbone para sa national at local government,  common tower program na mag- streamlines sa pagtatayo ng  towers at gawin angmga ito na cost-effective sa pamamagitan ng “tower-sharing and connecting GIDAs” sa pamamagitan ng “BroadBand ng Masa” project.

“All relevant modes of digital transport should be utilized. These may be through a combination of terrestrial or submarine fiber optic, wireless, or even satellite technology,” ang pahayag ng Pangulo.

Sa kamakailan lamang na pagkakapasa ng Public Service Act (PSA) na nag-aalis sa restriksyon ukol sa foreign investment, nakikita ng Pangulo ang pagtaas sa foreign direct investment sa  information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

“This includes the entry of the internet service provider (ISP) Starlink — owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX — that seeks to provide low-latency high-speed internet service to those that typical copper or fiber-based ISPs cannot reach,” ayon sa ulat.

“The scale and speed at which these innovations are introduced universally into our everyday activities are unprecedented in our recorded history. We cannot stand idly by,” ang pahayag ng Punong Ehekutibo. (Daris Jose)
