Seryeng Batang Quiapo, binatikos ng mambabatas

IKINALUNGKOT ni Lanao Del Sur Rep. Ziaur-Rahman Alonto Adiong ang ipinalabas na isang episode ng seryeng Batang Quiapo.

Sa naturang episode, ipinalabas ang pagtatago at pagkunsinte ng isang karakter na Muslim sa pagnanakaw, sa pagkukunwaring paggamit sa nakaw na bagay para itulong sa iba.

Bukod pa dito ang pagpapalabas na armado ng armas at may negatibong  reputasyon sa pulis.

“These are discriminatory, harmful, and derogatory portrayals of an entire community. As the representative of Lanao del Sur and a Bangsamoro muslim, I am deeply saddened by this discriminating portrayal,” anang mambabatas.

Importante aniya na ipabatid na hindi kinukunsinti ng Islam ang pagtatago o pagtulong sa magnanakaw at kinukunsidera nila itong isang major sin.

Nakasaad aniya sa  Quran, sa Chapter 5, verse 38: “As for the thief, male or female, cut off their hands. It is the recompense for what they have earned, exemplary punishment from Allah. And Allah is Almighty, Wise.” Clearly theft even to benefit the less fortunate is not countenanced by Islam.”

Dagdag nito, makulay ang siglong kasayaayan ng Muslim community sa loob at paligid ng Golden Mosque sa Quiapo.

Ang Islam ay unang ipinakilala sa Pilipinas noong 14th siglo at may importanteng papel ang  Muslim community sa cultural at social fabric ng bansa mula noon

“As such, it is dispiriting that the few moments Muslims are portrayed in popular media are usually rehashed and outdated stereotypes. We cannot abide by such acts which perpetuate harmful stereotypes that have no place in our society,”  ani Adiong.

Hinikayat nito ang creators ng Batang Quiapo na ikunsidera ang impact ng kanilang palabas at sa mensaheng ipinaabot nito sa viewers.

Nanawagan din ang mambabatas sa  Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) at sa lahat ng kaukulang ahensiya na rebyuhin ang kasalukuyang polisiya ukol sa  representation ng Muslims sa pelikula, television at digital shows.

Para naman sa kanyang tanggapan, rerebyuhin, palalakasin at isusulong nila ang mga panukalang tutugon sa kahalintulad na “acts of discrimination.”

“We call upon all members of our society to reject hate and discrimination in all its forms and to work towards building a more peaceful and harmonious world for everyone,” apela nito

Dagdag ng Coast Guard, saglit pa lang ito sa Kalayaan Island Group ay nakapagtaboy na ito ng mga banyaga na walang karapatan sa mga kontroladong tubig ng Pilipinas.

“Over a week into its maritime patrol of the KIG and its surrounds, MRRV-9701 encountered a Vietnamese-flagged fishing vessel in the waters off Recto Bank (Reed Bank) engaged in long-line fishing operations,” sabi pa nila.

“MRRV-9701 issued radio challenges and directed the foreign fishing vessel to leave the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) immediately, deploying Rigid-hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs) to conduct boarding and inspection.”

Agad-agad naman daw umalis ang barkong pangisda ng mga Vietnamese nang makita ang deployment ng RHIBs. Ineskortan sila ng MRRV-9701.

Nangyayari ang lahat ng ito ilang araw makipagkita ni Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian kay Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Andres Centino pagdating sa “military to military exchange and cooperation” upang “makamit ang kapayapaan sa rehiyon.” . (Ara Romero)
