Tinuligsa ng Makabayan ang desperadong hakbang ng kampo ni VP Duterte

TINULIGSA ng Makabayan ang desperadong hakbang umano ng kampo ni Vice President Duterte para makaiwas sa pananagutan.

“This is nothing but a last-ditch effort to escape scrutiny over the millions of confidential funds that were questionably spent under her watch. Kung walang tinatago, bakit ayaw humarap? First, she refused to appear in House hearings, now she wants to prevent the impeachment trial altogether,” ayon kay Rep. France Castro.

Sinabi naman ni Rep. Arlene Brosas na malinaw na paulit-ulit ang pattern ni Duterte na hindi umano haharap sa mga pagdinig ng kamara at ngayon ay gustong pigilan nito ang impeachment court.

“This is the height of arrogance and contempt for public accountability. Ang tanong: saan napunta ang milyon-milyong confidential funds?” pagtatanong ni Brosas.

Ayon kay Kabataan Party List Rep. Raoul Manuel, nararapat na malaman ng sambayanan ang katotohanan.

“The Vice President cannot hide behind her Davao lawyers forever. Kung talagang malinis ang konsensya, harapin ang impeachment court,” giit ni Manuel.

Iginiit ng Makabayan bloc na balido at tama ang pagkakahain ng impeachment complaint laban kay Duterte matapos makasunod ito sa isinasaad sa konstitusyon.

Nanawagan naman ang mga mambabatas sa Korte Suprema na ibasura ang petisyon na inihain ng supporters ng bise presidente at payagan ang proseso ng impeachment na magtuloy base na rin sa isinasaad sa konstitusyon.

“All the more the Senate must convene as an impeachment court without delay. The Filipino people deserve no less than full transparency and accountability from their public officials,” pahayag ng mga mambabatas. (Vina de Guzman)
