Utang lolobo sa panukalang Maharlika Investment Fund – Pimentel

NANINIWALA si Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III na magdulot lamang ng maraming utang sa bansa ang legasiya na proposed Maharlika Investment Fund.
Ginawa ni Pimentel ang pahayag taliwas sa pahayag ni National Treasurer Rosalia De Leon na ang kontrobersyal na pondo ay makakabawas sa utang ng bansa.
Aniya, sa nasabing panukala binibigyan ng kapangyarihan ang Maharlika Investment Corporation na mangutang.
Dagdag pa nito na kung talagang kumbinsidong itong mga nagpanukala ng Maharlika Investment Fund, bakit aniya kailangan pang ilagay na may kapangyarihan ang korporasyon na mangutang.
Para kay Pimentel, “wishful thinking” ang sinasabi ni De Leon.
Noong Nobyembre 2022, tumaas ang utang ng Pilipinas sa P13.6 trilyon.
Ang Senate Bill No. 1670 at House Bill No. 6608, mga panukalang naglalayong itatag ang Maharlika Investment Fund, ay inihain ng mga kaalyado ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Inaprubahan na ng lower chamber ang kanilang bersyon noong Disyembre noong nakaraang taon. (Daris Jose)
