IZA, matagal-tagal din ang pinaghintay para tuluyang makalipad bilang ‘Darna’; bahagi na ng Pinoy superhero history

SA wakas makalilipad na rin si Iza Calzado bilang Darna sa upcoming na Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series na pagbibidahan ni Jane de Leon.   

Si Iza ang gaganap na unang ‘Darna’ sa tv series, siya ang magpapasa ng mahiwagang bato sa kanyang anak na si Narda (Jane de Leon), na magta-transforms bilang superhero na si Darna.

Matagal-tagal din ang pinaghintay ni Iza para magampanan ang Pinoy superhero at mapasama sa history ng mga aktres na naging Darna.

Ayon sa tsika, isa si Iza na kinonsider ng GMA Network noong early 2000s, pero napunta kay Angel Locsin ang inaasam na role noong 2005.

Sakto naman sa celebration ng kanyang 39^th birthday noong August 12 nang I-announce Iza ang pagganap niya bilang first Darna sa TV series.

Pahayag pa ni Iza, “Naiyak ako! It’s one of the best birthday gifts! On different levels, nakaka-lift lang ng puso at spirits.”             

Dagdag pa  niya, “Finally, I can claim to be part of the Pinoy superhero history! I almost had the chance in the past, but God had other plans. I was not meant to be that Darna but He surely prepared me to play this Darna. Everything always happens in His perfect time. I call it Divine Timing.

“Being a hero during these challenging times is exciting and female one at that just means so much more. Of course I do recognize that with great power comes great responsibility. As cliché as it sounds, there is truth to this.”                                    

Kuwento pa niya, “there have been changes in the cast and directors and as Direk Lauren (Dyogi) said, I am the constant.”                   

Nakatakda nang magsimula ang production ng Darna TV series sa September, matapos na i-announce ng ABS-CBN ang pag-exit ni Jane long-running series na FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, na kung saan tinatapos na lang ang mga natitirang eksena.

Ang pagkakasama ni Heaven ay nakadagdag pa sa charisma ng loveable cast at nag-join sa team sa 10-day locked-in shoot ng eight-episode series sa Batangas.

Sa latest WeTV Original series na Pasabuy, iikot ang story sa two individuals who find themselves stranded in the same place at the start of the lockdown.

Si Anna (Peralejo) na isang young executive at si John (Roque) naman ay isang artist. They meet at the community chatroom where you can order necessities “pasabuy.”

Friendship and possibly love blooms in what could be the most unromantic of settings as they try to power through life and a bevy of emotions to get through each day.

The question is, when the pandemic ends and lives go back to normal, was any of it real?

Kasama sa cast sina Ella Cayabyab, MJ Cayabyab, Ralph Malibunas, and Gail Banawis, Kim Perez, Tiktok sweetheart Nana Silayro, at may special appearance ang rock band na I Belong To The Zoo.
