Pinas, pinaigting at dinagdagan ang mas maraming maritime patrols

PINAIGTING at dinagdagan ng Pilipinas ang pagsasagawa ng mas maraming maritime patrols at freedom of navigation missions sa West Philippine Sea.
Kamakailan lamang kasi ay may nangyaring banggaan sa pagitan ng Chinese vessel at Philippine vessel sa karagatan ng pinag-aagawang teritoryo malapit sa Ayungin Shoal o Ren Ai’ Jiao naman sa China.
Sinabi ni National Security Council assistant director general Jonathan Malaya, ang pagdaragdag ng patrols ay bunsod na rin ng na-monitor na “a large number of Chinese maritime militia vessels” hindi lamang malapit sa Ayungin kundi sa Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal) at Sabina (Escoda) Shoal.
“We are alarmed by the environmental degradation our Coast Guard ships were able to monitor in these areas,” ayon kay Malaya sa isang panayam.
Kaya nga umapela si Malaya sa China na “act responsibly” at igalang at sundin ang international law.
Ang Beijing ay isa sa mga signatory ng United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea or UNCLOS.
Sa kabilang dako, inakusahan ni Malaya ang China ng pagsasagawa ng tinatawag na “malign information operation” kung saan ang “false narratives” ay ibinahagi sa publiko.
“Some critics are saying this is just posturing on the part of the Philippines… This is a battle for the resources of our country particularly those for our fishermen,” aniya pa rin. (Daris Jose)
