PAGGAMIT NG VCM, PINAG-AARALAN

PINAG-AARALAN ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang pagdaraos ng masusing pagtalakay sa paggamit ng mahigit 97,000 vote counting machines (VCMs) sa darating na halalan sa bansa.
Sinabi ni acting poll body chairperson Socorro Inting sa isang forum na mahigit 107,000 VCMs na ginamit noong Mayo 2022 election, mahigit 97,000 ang ginamit sa mga naunang halalan .
“I am not prematurely deciding or influencing the policy direction of the Comelec en banc but I think everyone will agree to a meticulous discussion and review of the propriety of using these VCMs in future elections,” sabi ni Inting.
Ang nasabing mga VCMs ay unang ginamit noong 2016 polls.
Sinabi naman ni acting poll body spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco na tanging ang maliit na bahagi ng mga VCMs ang nagkaaberya noong May 9 election.
“We have to admit there were failures in the VCM. On Election day, only 477, or 0.45 percent failed. Other failures, prior to election day and were readily addressed by the contingency plan. For SD (secure digital) cards, only 428 failed on Election day and were readily configured in the repair hubs,” dagdag niya.
Kasalukuyan ngayong naghahanda ang Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) na gagawin sa Disyembre 5.
Noong Hulyo 15, may kabuuang 1,307,593 na aplikasyon para sa pagpaparehistro bilang regular at mga botante ng kabataan para sa darating na botohan.
Sa bilang, 863,078 ang nasa edad 15-17 habang ang nasa 18-30 taong gulang ay 435,266.
Para sa mga 31 taong gulang pataas, ang bilang ng mga nagparehistro ay 72,249.
Nagsimula ang pagpapatuloy ng voter registration noong Hulyo 4 at magtatagal hanggang Hulyo 23. (BISHOP JESUS “JEMBA” M. BASCO)
