Pinuno ng National Academy of Sports, itinalaga

HINIRANG bilang pinuno nang itinatayong Na- tional Academy of Sports (NAS) si grassroots sports program specialist at Philippine Sports Commission’s (PSC) Sports Physiology Unit head Prof. Josephine Joy Reyes.

Si Reyes, naging bahagi sa pagbuo ng Sports Mapping Ac- tion Research talent Identification (SMARTID) at nagsisilbi ng ha- los 27 years sa Medical Scientific Athletes Services (MSAS) ng PSC, ay napili mula sa listahan ng mga eksperto sa larangan ng grassroots sports development.

“I just want to deliver. I just want to perform. I just want to serve. I know it’s gonna be a big task because remember, this is not just a simple department. It’s not a simple unit but we are talk- ing about a school system,” wika ni Reyes.

Itinalaga bilang NAS executive director si Reyes ng NAS’ board of trustees sa pangunguna ni Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones, co-chair William Ramirez ng Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino, at Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Prospero de Vera.

“It is an honor on the PSC’s part that someone who has been in the field of sports for so long with the PSC and helped in the development of grassroots sports will take a key role in NAS. As the future home of our budding sportsmen, it will help that the Executive Director is brilliant, competent, and with good character,” wika ni Ramirez.

Ang karanasan ni Reyes bilang dating atleta ang nagpalakas sa kanyang pagnanais at layunin para maimprub ang athletic performance ng national team.
