Suporta sa atletang sasabak sa Tokyo Olympics, tuloy – PSC

Siniguro ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner William “Butch” Ramirez na tuloy ang kanilang buong suporta sa mga atletang lalahok sa 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Nangako ang PSC ng buong suporta kahit pa tinapyasan ng gobyerno ang kanilang pondo dahil sa coronavirus disease 2019 o COVID-19.
Isiniwalat ng PSC, na aabot sa P1.3 billion ng kanilang pondo ang inilipat ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) para labanan ng gobyerno ang COVID-19, kungsaan P596 dito ay nanggaling sa National Sports Development Fund at P773 million naman ang mula sa General Appropriations Acts.
“It’s a tough situation but we understand the priorities of the national government. We will do what we can to continue the support we give to our athletes especially those vying for an Olympic slot,” ani Ramirez.
Ayon sa PSC tuloy ang suporta nila kina EJ Obiena ng athletics, Eumir Marcial at Irish Magno ng Boxing, 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz sa weightlifting, four-time SEA Games champion Kiyomi Watanabe sa Judo, 2019 SEAG double-gold medal winner Margielyn Didal sa skateboarding at multi-titled taekwondo Pauline Lopez at Junna Tsukii ng karatedo.
Bukod sa financial support, tuloy din ang online online sports psychology consultations, virtual training sessions, nutrition, physiology, at conditioning webinars sa athlete at coaches ng Medical Scientific Athletic Services (MSAS) at Philippine Sports Institute (PSI) ng PSC
Inihirit ng PSC na hangga’t makakaya nila ay susuportahan nila ang mga atleta.Target ni Ramirez na magpadala ng mas maraming atleta na isasabak sa 2021 Olympics.
