NCR, mananatili pa rin sa Alert Level 1 classification – Malakanyang

MANANATILI pa rin sa Alert Level 1 classification ang buong National Capital Region (NCR) epektibo Mayo 1 hanggang Mayo 15, 2022.

Ito’y matapos aprubahan ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) na muling manatili ang NCR sa nasabing alert level status.

Sinabi ni acting Presidential spokesperson at Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, bukod sa NCR, inilagay din sa ilalim ng Alert Level 1 sa kahalintulad na panahon ang mga sumusunod na lugar gaya ng:

Para sa Luzon- Cordillera Administrative Region: Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, at Baguio City; Region I: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, at Dagupan City; Region II: Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, at City of Santiago; Region III: Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Angeles City, at Olongapo City; Region IV-A: Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, at Lucena City; Region IV-B: Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, at Puerto Princesa City; at Region V: Albay, Catanduanes, Naga City.

Para sa Visayas – Region VI: Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo Province, Bacolod City, at Iloilo City; Region VII: Siquijor, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, at Mandaue City; at Region VIII: Biliran, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Ormoc City, at Tacloban City.

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’, US Highest-Grossing Video Game Movie

SONIC the Hedgehog 2 has become the highest-grossing video game film ever at the US box office, surpassing the original Sonic the Hedgehog film’s gross.

The sequel saw Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter return to reprise their roles from the first film. The series is set to expand into television through Paramount’s Paramount+ streaming service.

Building upon the success of 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 set out to keep the momentum going. After introducing general audiences to Schwartz’s blue speedster and Carrey’s over-the-top evil genius Dr. Robotnik, the sequel began to bring more of SEGA’s longrunning platformer franchise to the big screen through Colleen O’Shaughnessey’s highly intelligent fox Tails and Idris Elba’s powerful Knuckles the Echidna, alongside the mysterious Master Emerald and more of Robotnik’s nefarious creations.

Now, the sequel has surpassed its predecessor’s gross, setting a new record for video game movies at the US box office.

According to the report, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has earned an impressive $147 million at the domestic box office going into the fourth weekend of its release. Not only has the sequel surpassed Sonic the Hedgehog‘s $146 million at the domestic box office, but it has also become the highest-grossing video game movie of all time.

The previous holder of the title was 2022’s Uncharted, which surpassed Sonic the Hedgehog by an estimated fifty thousand dollars with $146,118,043. Despite its success at the domestic box office, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 still has yet to break into the top 10 highest-grossing video game movies internationally, where it is still behind 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog at $291 million, while the predecessor grossed $304 million.

Sonic the Hedgehog is growing to become an impressively successful franchise. Despite Carrey stating he intends to retire from acting, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is set to continue in the form of a spin-off TV series following Elba’s recently introduced Knuckles, with both Elba and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 director Jeff Fowler returning to work on the series. The sequel also laid the groundwork for future films through a post-credit scene that featured fan-favorite character Shadow the Hedgehog and the GUN organization.

Despite Carrey’s retirement, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 producers Neal H. Moritz & Toby Ascher have stated that they won’t recast Robotnik in any sequel or spin-off series, intentionally leaving the actor an opportunity to return to the role if he wishes.

While it initially caused an uproar from fans over its widely-panned redesign of SEGA’s iconic character, Sonic the Hedgehog has become a standout franchise. After a strong box-office opening, the sequel has proved that audience interest in the series remains strong, not only securing the franchise’s future but also setting itself apart from other video-game movies.

With other video game-inspired movies like Sony’s Ghost of Tsushima, and Nintendo and Illumination’s Mario movie in development, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 may be a trendsetter in the current age of video game adaptations. (source: screenrant.com)

Walang indikasyon ng lockdown tapos ng halalan – Duque

WALANG indikasyon na magkakaroon ng lockdown pagkatapos ng halalan dahil sa posibleng pagtaas ng mga kaso ng COVID-19, ayon kay Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

“Sa ngayon, walang indikasyon na magkakaroon ng lockdown matapos ang eleksyon,” pahayag ni Duque sa panayam ng Dobol B TV.

Paliwanag niya, kung kinakailangan, magkakaroon lamang ng granular lockdowns at hindi widespread lockdown.

Walang indikasyon na magkakaroon ng lockdown pagkatapos ng halalan dahil sa posibleng pagtaas ng mga kaso ng COVID-19, ayon kay Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

Sa 50% pagbaba sa compliance ng MPHS sa Metro Manilla ay maaring magresulta sa 25,000 hanggang 60,000 bagong kaso ng COVID-19 kada araw sa kalagitnaan ng Mayo.

Samantala, 20% naman na pagbaba sa MPHS compliance nationwide ay maaring magbunga ng 34,788 active COVID cases, at 30% na pagbaba sa compliance ng MPHS ay lalong magpapataas hanggang sa 300,000 sa nasabing panahon. (Daris Jose)

170,000 Pilipinong botante sa ibang bansa, nakaboto na–Comelec

AABOT na sa 10% o katumbas ng 170,000 ng rehistradong Pilipinong botante sa ibang bansa ang nakaboto na ayon sa Commission on Election (Comelec).

Ayon kay Casquejo nasa kabuuang 76,745 katao na ang nakabboto sa Asia Pacific.

Nasa 13,462 overseas voters naman ang nakaboto na sa Europe, 83,450 Pilipino ang nakaboto naman sa Middle East at Africa.

Sa America nasa inisyal na 1,809 overseas voters ang nakaboto na.

Sa ngayon, hindi pa inisyal pa lamang ang naturang bilang ng overseas voters habang inaantay pang makapagsumite ang ilang foreign service posts gaya ng Philippine embassies, consulates, foreign service establishments, at iba pang Philippine government agencies abroad.

Kaugnay nito, nagpahayag ng pagkabahala si poll Commissioner Marlon Casquejo sa overseas voting sa ngayon na nasa humigit kumulang 175,266 botante pa lamang ang nakaboto bagamat hindi pa ito accurate dahil ilang mga posts ang hindi nakapagsumite ng bilang ng overseas voters na nakapadala na ng kanilang mail-in ballots.

Buong mundo “malulusaw” kung gagamitin ni Putin ang nuclear weapons laban sa Ukraine- Pangulong Duterte

NAGBABALA si Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte ng “worst possible outcome” para sa buong mundo sa gitna ng patuloy na banta ng Russia sa posibilidad na gamitin ang tactical o low-yield nuclear weapons laban sa Ukraine.

Sa naging talumpati ng Pangulo sa Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu sa idinaos na 501 taong anibersaryo ng Victory of Mactan, nagpahayag ng pagtutol si Pangulong Duterte sa nuclear threats ni Russian President Vladmir Putin at mangamba na ito na ang maging katapusan ng mundo.

“Putin’s threat is not good. If he really presses the button there and it goes nuclear and they use nuclear armaments, I think that my brother Lapulapu is waiting for all of us there in heaven because the world will melt,” ayon sa Pangulo.

Hindi naman nagbigay pa ng ibang detalye si Pangulong Duterte subalit iginiit nito ang kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng posisyon sa ginawang pagsalakay ng Russia sa Ukraine.

“Our history is evolving, the history of our world. How we react, how we define ourselves, how we would stand in this conflict if it really goes nuclear,” ayon pa rin sa Punong Ehekutibo.

Matatandaang, nanindigan si Pangulong Duterte na dapat ay manatiling neutral ang Pilipinas hinggil sa nagpapatuloy na sigalot ngayon sa pagitan ng Russia at Ukraine.

Ipinahayag ito ng pangulo sa kanyang naging talumpati sa Palo, Leyte at sinabing mas makakabuti para sa bansa na hindi makisali dito sa kadahilanang hindi dapat madamay o makaladkad ang Pilipinas sa naturang sitwasyon ng krisis.

Hangga’t siya ang tumatayong presidente ng Pilipinas ay sinabi rin ni Duterte na tatanggi siya na magpadala ng mga sundalong Pilipino sa bansang sinalanta ng digmaan kahit na maging kahilingan pa ito ng Estados Unidos dahil sa pangamba na ito ay maaaring mag resulta lamang ng spill over na magdudulot ng aktwal na giyera dito sa Pilipinas. PH men’s volleyball team ng bansa desididong makakuha ng gold medal sa SEA Games

TINIYAK ng Philippines men’s volleyball team na mayroon silang malaking improvements sa pagsabak nila sa Southeast Asian Games sa Hanoi, Vietnam.

Sila kasi ngayon ang binabantayan na koponan matapos na makakuha ng silver medal noong 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Bagama’t hindi na nagsisimula ang mga liga ng mga volleyballs sa bansa ay tiniyak ni head coach Dante Alinsunurin na handa silang makapagtala ng kasaysayan sa Hanoi matapos ang matagumpay na training camp sa Qatar.

Handa na ang kanyang koponan at nakapag-adjust na rin ang mga ito para makamit ang target sa SEA Games.

Mahigit 1 million katao inilikas mula Ukraine patungong

MAHIGIT sa 1 milyong tao na ang inilikas mula sa Ukraine patungo sa Russia mula noong Pebrero 24.

Sinabi ni Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, kabilang sa 1.02 million individuals ang 120,000 foreigners at ang mga taong inilikas mula sa Russian-backed breakaway regions ng Ukraine na tinatawag na Donetsk at Luhansk People’s republics.

Ayon sa data mula sa United Nations, higit sa 5.4 milyong tao ang tumakas sa Ukraine mula nang magsimula ang pagsalakay.

Tinatawag ito ng Moscow na isang “espesyal na operasyon” upang i-demilitarize at “i-denazify” ang Ukraine.

Sinasabi ng Ukraine at ng West na ang Russia ay naglunsad ng isang walang dahilan na war of aggression.

Subvariant ng Omicron, ‘di pa variant of concern

HINDI pa dapat mangamba ang publiko sa nakapasok sa bansa na BA.2.12 subvariant ng Omicron variant ng COVID-19.

Sinabi ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na ang nasabing subvariant ay hindi pa tinukoy ng World Health Organization (WHO) bilang variant of interest o variant of concern.

Muli niyang hinikayat ang publiko na magpabakuna o magpa-booster na laban sa COVID-19 at huwag nang maghintay na magkaroon muli ng surge ng virus bago pumila sa mga bakunahan.

Giit ng kalihim, maiiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng surge kung magiging maingat ang mga mamamayan, patuloy na tatalima sa mga health protocols at kung magpapabakuna laban sa COVID-19 upang magkaroon sila ng proteksiyon laban sa virus.

Una nang kinumpirma ng DOH na naitala na nila ang unang kaso ng Omicron BA.2.12 sa Baguio City.

Ito’y isang 52-anyos na Finnish na dumating sa bansa noong Abril 2 mula sa Finland, at sinasabing nagkaroon ng 44 close contacts. (Daris Jose)
