Mike Enriquez malaking kawalan sa media industry

NAKIISA si Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez sa pagdadalamhati ng industriya ng media at iba pang nagmamahal sa pumanaw na beteranong brodkaster ng GMA-7 na si Mike Enriquez.

Inilarawan ni Speaker si Enriquez bilang isang walang kapagurang media practitioner, isang anti-corruption, anti-abuse, at anti-wrongdoing crusader.

“He was a champion of the oppressed, the abused. His docudrama ‘Imbestigador’ was his vehicle for exposing corruption and mischief. His now famous punchline ‘Hindi kita tatantanan!’ sent an ominous warning to wayward and abusive public officials, policemen, other public servants, and other citizens with influence,” sabi pa ng lider ng Kamara.

KOREA PICKS “CONCRETE UTOPIA” FOR INTERNATIONAL FILM RACE AT THE OSCARS, FILM TO MAKE NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE AT THE 48TH TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

THE Korean Film Council (KOFIC) has unanimously chosen the disaster epic Concrete Utopia to represent South Korea in the selection for Best International Feature Film at the 2024 Academy Awards.

In a statement on their official website, KOFIC said that they tried to select “a film that is Korean, yet aims for a global standard, strikes a good balance between artistry and popularity, and appeals without resistance to the Academy Awards.” The judges unanimously selected Concrete Utopia “as it seems to be able to appeal to North America without being unfamiliar with the trend of K-culture and K-movie.”

Directed by Um Tae-hwa, Concrete Utopia is loosely based on Part 2 of the hit webtoon “Joyful Outcast” (“Pleasant Neighbors”) and stars an ensemble of A-list Korean actors including Lee Byung-hun, Park Seo-jun, Park Bo-young, Park Ji-hu, Kim Do-yoon and Kim Sun-young. It is a disaster thriller about the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. The film will follow the story that begins when the survivors gather at Hwang Gung Apartments, the only building left standing in an earthquake-ravaged Seoul.

Concrete Utopia is a sobering parable, following its characters’ gradual descent into ruthless tribalism in a way that eerily mirrors so many contemporary global events.

The 2024 Academy Awards will be held on March 10, 2024. The final list of nominees for Best International Feature Film will be announced on January 23. Prior to the Oscars, the acclaimed South Korean film will have its North American premiere and gala presentation at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 9.

TIFF is also delighted to announce that Concrete Utopia stars Lee Byung-hun (Inside Men, Mr. Sunshine, Squid Game) and Park Seo-jun (Itaewon Class, Midnight Runners, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim) will be participating in the festival’s audience-pleasing “In Conversation With…” series, which features in-depth conversations with film artists, writers and cultural figures about their creative process.

Concrete Utopia, which opened at #1 in Korea on August 9, will open in Philippine cinemas September 20.

P1B APRUBADO NA BILANG DAGDAG BUDGET NG PHILIPPINE COCONUT AUTHORITY

APRUBADO na at kasama na sa National Expenditure Program for 2024 ang P1 bilyon para sa revitalization ng coconut industry.

Sinabi ni PCA Administrator Bernie Cruz nitong Martes (Agosto 29), out of their request for P11-billion additional budget, only P1B billion was included in the NEP for 2024. Dagdag ni Cruz, mismong si President Bongbong Marcos ang nagsabing “Kailangan nating magreplant para mareplenish ang coconut trees.”

“By next year, a factory will be put up to mass produce the coconut by products to be used as construction materials,” ani Cruz.

Ayon kay Cruz, “PBBM noted that instead of importing construction materials made from coconut by products, the Philippines should itself mass produce such construction materials. “The coconut husks will be made as coconut bricks for construction materials which are termite-proof.

Bernie Cruz, who is also a former Agrarian Reform Undersecretary, the 100M coconut trees to start planting in August 2023. It is targeted to finish the massive planting of 100 million coconut trees within the term of PBBM or until 2028.

Cruz noted that a seed bank or seed garden will be established in every province in coordination with the big players in the coconut industry.

They have an agreement with the farmers to directly supply them with needed coconut products. There is an estimated 3 million coconut farmers all over the country.

DOTr, nagpaaalala sa mga transport group ukol sa 20% discount ng mga estudyante

PINAALALAHANAN ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang mga public transport sa umiiral na 20% discount, kasabay ng muling pagbabalik eskwela.

Ayon sa ahensiya, kailangang bigyan ng transport group ang mga estudyante ng akmang discount dahil isinasaad ito ng batas, partikular na ang Republic Act 1134 o ang Student Fare Discount Act na unang pang inaprubahan noong 2019.

Kinabibilangan ito ng mga jeep, bus, taxi, LRT, MRT, PNR, at mga eroplano.

Kasama rin dito ang mga pampasaherong banka.

Paalala ng DOTr, ang 20% discount para sa mga estudyante ay epektibo araw-araw, kahit pa weekend o mga holliday.

Samantala, kailangan lamang ng mga estudyante na magpakita ng kani-kanilang mga ID upang maka-avail ng diskwento. (Daris Jose)

‘Shared bike lane’ ibinasura ng MMDA

IBINASURA ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang kanilang panukala na ‘shared lane’ para sa mga bisikleta at motorsiklo sa EDSA.

Ito ay makaraan ang pulong ni MMDA chair Romando Artes sa mga kinatawan ng mga motorcycle at bicycle groups kung saan nabigo na makaabot sila sa isang kasunduan at desisyon.

Dahil dito, maghahanap na lang umano ng ibang opsyon ang MMDA para masolusyunan ang problema sa dumarami pang motorsiklo na dumaraan sa EDSA.

“As we speak maraming motorsiklo na pumapasok sa exclusive bike lanes. ‘Pag pinaghigpitan, kami pa ang kini-criticize,” dagdag niya.

Kabilang sa mga alternatibo ang “elevated walkway o bikelane”, na umano’y makatutulong sa pagpapaluwag sa trapiko sa EDSA.

MASAYANG tinanggap ni Nadine Samonte ang plaque of recognition bilang alumna ng Alternative Learning System (ALS) school at ginawa rin siyanb ALS Ambassador of Schools Division Office-Malabon City.

“Nakakataba ng puso na makatanggap ng recognition award kung saan don din ako nakapagtapos. Sabi ko nga sa speech ko kanina ang ALS program ang nagbigay sa akin ng pag-asa. Kaya sa mga gustong magtapos kaya po natin yan dahil andyan ang programang ALS na tutulong sa inyo,” sey ni Nadine na nagbabalik sa paggawa ng teleserye sa GMA via ‘The Missing Husband.’

Ten years na magpahinga sa pag-arte si Nadine dahil nag-focus ito sa kanyang pagiging isang asawa at ina sa tatlong anak. Tamang-tama lang daw ang pagbalik niya sa GMA dahil mag-celebrate ng 20th year ang kinabilangan niya na reality artista search na ‘StarStruck’.

Kinuwento ni Nadine na pumila raw siya para mag-audition sa StarStruck noong 2003.

“Isa ako sa pinakahuli sa pila sa audition. Pinakanta, pinasayaw at pinaarte ako. Para ngang mas mahaba pa yung pinila ko kesa sa ginawa ko sa audition. Kaya noong sabihin na nakapasok ako, siyempre natuwa ako. Umabot ako hanggang Top 6. Kahit na hindi ako nanalo, maraming nagbukas na opportunities sa akin na naging malaking tulong sa pamilya ko that time.”

Baka raw may nag-advise kay Maggie na mag-deactivate muna ng kanyang social media accounts dahil may ongoing na legal battle ito sa kanyang dating mister. Kaya rin siguro tumahimik na rin ang dalawang kampo dahil may kaso nang naisampa at hindi ito puwedeng pag-usapan.

Kaya wait na lang ang mga marites kung kelan puwedeng magsalita si Maggie. Dasal naman ng ibang netizen na maayos na nila ni Victor ang problema nila para na rin sa kanilang anak.

TINAKBO sa ospital ang former One Direction member na si Liam Payne dahil sa serious kidney infection.

Naging dahilan ang pagkakaospital ni Liam para ma-delay ang kanyang concert tour sa South Africa.

Post niya sa IG: “It’s with a heavy heart I have to tell you that we have no other choice but to postpone my upcoming tour of South America. Over the past week I’ve been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, it’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and doctors orders are that I now need to rest and recover.

“I was beyond excited to come play for you guys. To all of you who have bought tickets: I’m so sorry. We’re working to re-schedule the tour as soon as we possibly can, but for now we will be refunding the tickets – so please look out for updates from your point of purchase.”

Liam’s tour was scheduled to kick off on September 1. He had dates in Lima, Peru and São Paulo, Brazil.

FOUR years ang preparasyon at apat na buwan na umere ang ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ na consistent top-rating show ng GMA.

At dahil hindi biro ang kanilang pinagdaanan para mapaganda ang show, may reward o gantimpala ang Voltes team sa kani-kanilang sarili.

Ang nag-iisang babae na miyembro ng grupo na nagpipiloto sa robot na si Voltes V, si Ysabel Ortega (as Jamie Robinson) ay dalawang negosyo ang reward sa kanyang sarili.

“I was in law school towards the tail end of lock-in tapings but then I stopped,” umpisang kuwento ni Ysabel.

“So, sabi ko, ito ang reward ko afterVoltes V. Makakapag-law school na ako.

“Kaso hindi pala kinaya. Ang hirap pala talagang pagsabayin yung dalawa.

“So, ang pinili ko na lang na reward for myself, nagpatayo ako ng business.

“It’s kind challenging to put up two businesses at the same time pero yun po ang ginawa kong reward sa sarili ko.

“Something din na kung anuman yung effort na pinour ko dito sa Voltes V, naghanap ako ng kung saan ko ulit ibubuhos.

“Yun ang pinili ko, two businesses na passion ko din naman,” sinabi pa ni Ysabel.

Masayang-masaya ang Nailandia owners na sina Noreen at Juncynth Divina sa pagkakataong magkaroon ng business collaboration sa tatlong aktres dahil sikat na sikat ang Voltes V: Legacy at patuloy na nangunguna sa ratings game.

“Siguro ano na lang, wala akong pinagsisisihan sa lahat ng pinagdaanan ko.

“Nung una siguro when my heart was broken, andun yung kinukuwestiyon ko sarili ko, at nakakahiya mang aminin, dumating din ako sa time na kinukuwestiyon ko din si God, which is wrong of course.

“Yung parang bilang asawa po kasi may pagka-ano talaga ako e, sobrang submissive kasi ako, yung parang pagka… when it comes to decision making, if my ex-husband makes a certain decision, even if I don’t agree with him or I feel that there is a better option or decision that we should take as a couple, I would always go with what he wants.

“Not that hindi ako magsasalita, I will tell him, pero kaya ko kasi siyang sundin wholeheartedly, e. Ang nangyayari susundin ko siya and then I pray to God that parang, ‘Lord I don’t trust his decision, but because I trust You then sige, I will let him decide.’ “Parang ganyan, pero ngayon kasi nagkaroon na po talaga ako ng lakas ng loob, nararamdaman ko na may boses na rin po ako, I think I also have my two children to thank for this.

APPLE ORIGINAL FILMS UNVEILS “KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON” KEY ART, AND SETS GLOBAL THEATRICAL RELEASE FOR MARTIN SCORSESE’S HIGHLY ANTICIPATED FEATURE FILM

APPLE Original Films today unveiled the key art for Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and announced that the film will open wide, in theaters around the world, in partnership with Paramount Pictures, starting October 18.

Following its global theatrical run, the film will debut on Apple TV+. Starring a cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone, the film premiered earlier this year at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it was met with broad critical acclaim and an extended standing ovation.

The wide theatrical release of “Killers of the Flower Moon” will also include IMAX® theatres, for which the film will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Directed by Scorsese and written for the screen by Eric Roth and Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book of the same name, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror. NAKATANGGAP ng tulong pinansiyal na tig-P10,000 mula sa National Housing Authority (NHA) at kay Senador Bong Go ang nasa 1,328 pamilyang Navoteñong nasunugan sa isinagawang aktibidad sa Navotas Sports Complex, kamakailan.

Bilang kinatawan ni NHA General Manager Joeben Tai, pinangunahan ni NCR North Sector Regional Manager Engr. Jovita G. Panopio ang pamamahagi ng tulong pinansiyal na aabot sa P13.28 milyon sa mga benepisyaryo, katuwang sina Sen. Go, Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco, Cong. Toby Tiangco, Vice Mayor Tito Sanchez, at NHA MaNaVa District Manager Engr. Nora E. Aniban.

Mula sa Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) ng ahensya, ang mga benepisyaryo na mga residente ng Barangays North Bay Boulevard North, Bagong Bayan North, Tangos North, Tangos South, Navotas West, San Roque, Sipac Almacen, Bangkulasi, at Daanghari ay nakatanggap ng tig-P10,000 ayuda bawat pamilya. Pagbubukas ng klase sa public schools, ‘generally peaceful’ – PNP

PANGKALAHATANG mapayapa ang unang araw ng pagbubukas ng klase Agosto 29 sa mga pampublikong paaralan.

Sinabi ni Philippine National Police Chief, Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. na wala namang natanggap na anumang gulo o untoward incident ang PNP.

Nabatid na umaabot sa 32,706 pulis ang dineploy kahapon upang matiyak ang seguridad sa mga paaralan.

Naglatag din ng 6,159 Police Assistance Desks sa mga stratehikong lugar sa bansa na handang tumugon sa pangangailangan ng mga estudyante, magulang, at mga guro sakaling may emergency.

Nakaalerto sa ngayon ang hanay ng PNP para maiwasan ang mga krimen na maaring gawin ng mga mapagsamantala.

Kasunod nito, kanyang hinikayat ang lahat na makipag-ugnayan sa awtoridad at mag-report ng mga kahina-hinalang aktibidad.

Sa pamamagitan nito ay agad na makakaresponde ang PNP at matitiyak ang ligtas na pagbabalik-eskwela.

Mas paiigtingin pa ng PNP ang police visibility na isa sa epektibong paraan upang mailigtas ang mga estudyante at guro sa mga insidente ng snatching, hold up at kidnapping. (Daris Jose)
