RTF-ELCAC, hinikayat ang CHR na imbestigahan ang presensiya ng 4 na menor de edad sa ginawang pag-aresto sa Tarlac farmers

HINIKAYAT ng Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) ang Commission on Human Rights (CHR) na imbestigahan ang presensiya ng apat na menor de edad na kasama sa inaresto sa Tarlac noong Hunyo 9.

Sa press conference, hinikayat ni Western Visayas RTF-ELCAC prosecutor Flosemer Chris Gonzales ang CHR na alamin kung sino ang nagdala sa mga menor de edad sa Concepcion.

“Dapat maimbestigahan kung anong ginagawa nila doon. At ‘yung dapat managot niyan, CHR, is ‘yung talagang nag imbita sa kanila doon na halata namang pang gugulo ‘yung puno’t dulo nitong ginawa n’yong pagkilos,” anito.

Sa kabilang dako, sinabi naman ni PRO3 Regional Director Police Brigadier Matthew Baccay na 91 katao ang inisyal na inaresto.

Gayunman, pinakawalan din ang ilang dayuhan at apat na menor de edad.

“So do not only focus on, you know, the allegations against our police. But we should also look into the best interests nung mga bata… Alam ba nung mga magulang na hinila niyo ‘yung mga anak nila doon?” ayon kay Gonzales.

Sinabi pa ni Gonzales na dapat lang na tingnan at alamin ng CHR ang sinasabing grupo na nag-organisa ng assembly.

“Dahil ‘yung naapektuhan nito ‘yung mga farmers, ‘yung mga miyembro ng Tinang Multipurpose Cooperative,” anito.

“Sila rin po ay mga marginalized at sila rin ay nawalan ng mga pananim na tubo dahil sa ginawa nitong mga nahuli ng ating kapulisan… mga biktima din po sila,” dagdag na pahayag ni Gonzales.

Sa kabilang dako, sinabi naman ni NTF-ELCAC spokesperson Lorraine Badoy, nahaharap sa multiple raps dahil sa pagdawit sa ilang grupo at personalidad sa armed communist movement, na ang mga miyembro ng Karapatan ang nasa likod ng insidente.

“The CHR, if they’re very serious and sincere about getting to the bottom of this should investigate that, they should investigate our allegation that behind this is Pia Montalban of Karapatan that is a front of the CPP-NPA-NDF and who brought these children there,” ayon kay Badoy.

Samantala, pinabulaanan naman ni Baccay ang alegasyon ng ‘physical and mental abuse’ at inhumane conditions sa detention facility.

Sinabi ng CHR iniimbestigahan nila ang kaso at nagsisimula nang mangalap ng impormasyon mula sa mga inarestong indibiduwal, magsasaka na naghain ng reklamo at Philippine National Police Office personnel.

Sinabi ni Baccay na pumalag ang mga magsasaka na maaresto at ang mga ito pa aniya ang nanakit sa mga pulis. (Daris Jose)

TOM HANKS PLAYS THE SHADY MANAGER OF “ELVIS” PRESLEY

OSCAR-WINNER Tom Hanks stars as Elvis Presley’s enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker in Warner Bros.’ “Elvis,” an epic, big-screen spectacle from visionary, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann that explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler).

As told by Parker, the film delves into the complex dynamic between the two spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America.

“While this story is called ‘Elvis,’ it’s also Colonel Tom Parker’s story—the telling of it at least; he’s our way in, our narrator, and an unreliable one at that,” states writer/director/producer Baz Luhrmann, whose extensive research into the music icon Elvis aided in his discovery of the strange partnership behind the artist’s public success and personal struggles.

“As I like to say, Colonel Tom Parker was never a colonel, never a Tom, never a Parker, but a fascinating character all the same. He was a carnival barker dedicated to finding that one great act.

“Nineteen-year-old Elvis Presley had lived for a period of time in one of the few white-designated houses in a Black section of Tupelo, Mississippi,” the filmmaker continues, “where, along with a group of neighborhood friends, he absorbed the music of both the local juke joints and the Pentecostal revival tents. As he grew up, he fused this with his love of country music. Parker had no ear for music whatsoever, but he was absolutely struck by the effect Elvis’s whole package had on young audiences. As the Colonel says in the film, ‘It was the greatest carnival act I had ever seen.’”

Lurhmann further adds that, “In the mid-1950s in parts of America, carnivals were transitioning into music, mainly country and western. But Parker was always looking for the extraordinary—the one that made the most money, had a great costume, excited the audience, had a strange twist… Just something special, like Elvis.”

Luhrmann recruited Tom Hanks to play the role of Parker, stating, “I’d never worked with Tom previously, but I just told him the story and before I even got to the video I’d brought along to show him what I had in mind, he said, ‘Well, if you want me I’m your guy.’ What a gift!”

Hanks has said of the real-life Parker, “He was both a genius and a scoundrel. He was a very disciplined man, a wicked smart businessman and a dime-squeezing skinflint, but also a pioneer in a big type of show business that did not exist until Elvis Presley came along. He knew instantaneously that Elvis was a unique artist, he saw his grand potential and knew that if he didn’t make a ton of money off him, somebody else would.”

As Luhrmann reveals in the film, money was a key motivator and, as such, Parker was also possibly the first person to see the financial potential beyond the music: merchandising. “He sees how this boy, Elvis, has an effect on an audience, an effect like he’s never seen before and certainly beyond anything he’s seen on the carnival circuit,” the filmmaker notes. “To Tom Parker, it’s the greatest carnival act he’s ever witnessed, and he must have it.”

In cinemas across the Philippines starting June 22, “Elvis” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Naitatalang daily COVID 19 cases sa NCR, malaki ang posibilidad na umabot na sa 400 hanggang 500 sa katapusan ng buwan – OCTA Research

TINATAYANG papalo na sa 400 hanggang 500 cases kada araw ang nakikitang projection ng Octa Research na maitatalang kaso ng COVID 19 pagdating ng June 30.

Sa Laging Handa public briefing, sinabi Dr Guido David na sadyang papabilis ang kasong naire- record araw- araw.

Aniya, naobserbahan nila na sa mga nakaraang mga linggo na 53% ang itinataas ng kaso mula lamang sa 10%.

Tumaas din ayon kay David ang 7 day average sa mula sa 86 to 131 cases per day gayundin ang reproduction number na ngayon ay nasa 1.59 na aniya.

At maging ang pati positivity rate ay nasa 2.7 % na habang bahagyang tumaas na din ang hospital care utilization rate dito sa Kalakhang Maynila. (Daris Jose)

Green muling aasahan ng Warriors

LABAS-masok man sa krusyal na bahagi ng fourth quarter sa panalo ng Golden State Warriors sa Boston Celtics sa Game Four ng NBA Finals noong Sabado ay isa pa rin si Draymond Green sa mga aasahan ni coach Steve Kerr sa Game Five ngayon (Manila time).

“Draymond is Draymond. He’s going to bring it every night,” wika ni Kerr kay Green na pinaupo niya sa bench kasunod ang 11-4 atake nina Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins at KevonLooney sa final canto patungo sa panalo.

P100 kada litro na presyo ng langis, binabantayan – DOE

Ayon kay Abad maraming factors ang kanilang nakikita na maaaring magresulta sa panibagong oil price increase.

Pero lumalabas sa hiwalay na datos na may mga lugar nang pumapalo sa mahigit P100 kada litro ang presyo ng diesel, partikular na sa mga islang lugar at kailangan pang ibyahe sa dagat ang mga produkto.

Samantala, may nababanaag din namang posibleng rollback ang DOE sa mga susunod na linggo, kung bababa ang demand ng China sa petroleum products dahil sa mga lockdown at iba pang rason.

PATAY ang isang lalaki na suspek sa isang panghoholdap matapos na nanlaban sa awtoridad sa Malate, Maynila Lunes ng gabi.

Naisugod pa sa Ospital ng Maynila ang suspek na Inilarawan ang nakasuot ng muscle shirt at may dalang bag pack at chest bag.

Sa ulat ni Pat Errhol G. Aguila ng Manila Police District (MPD)-homicide section, dakong alas-10:22 kamakalawa ng gabi nang naganap ang insidente sa panulukan ng Taft Avenue at Castro Street, Malate, Manila.

Nauna dito, nag-report ang biktima na si Niño Crisanto Mallari y Calabbun, 36, isang MSWD Street Educator at residente ng 2446 Camachile St., Malate, Manila sa Brgy 726, Zone 78, Dist. V, Manila na biktima siya ng pangho-holdap sa Leon Guinto corner Aragon St., Malate, Manila at tinutukan ng baril.

Inireport ni Brgy Ex O Bernard Pangan ang pangyayari sa pulisya kung saan kasama ang biktima, sumakay sa motorsiklo ng awtoridad at binagtas ang kahabaan ng panulukan ng Taft Ave., at Castro St. Malate kung saan namataan ang suspek base sa deskripsiyon ng biktima.

Tinangka ng suspek na tumakbo subalit hinabol siya ni Corporal Marlon Nobleza ng Station Intelligence Branch (SIB) ng MPD at nagpakilalang pulis subalit imbes na tumigil ay nagbunot ng baril at pinaputukan ang huli dahilan upang gumanti ito na nagresulta sa kanyang kamatayan.

Narekober sa suspek ang isang kalibre 38 na baril at bala at cellphone na pagmamay-ari ng biktima na nakuha sa kanyang bulsa. (GENE ADSUARA)

KALAT na kalat na ang balitang paglipat ni Asia’s Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo sa GMA-7, na halos dalawang dekada nang Kapamilya, kasabay din nito ang The Voice Kids na nakuha na raw ang rights ng Kapuso Network.

Isa nga si Sarah sa judge/mentor ng Philippines’ franchise ng American singing competition sa lumipas na maraming taon nito sa ere.

May lumabas na kasama raw ang Popstar Royalty sa upcoming season ng Idol Philippines ayon kay Vice Ganda, pero dahil tinurn down ni Sarah ang offer, hindi na rin daw ito tinanggap ng main host ng It’s Showtime.

Samantala, nakaka-intriga nga ang kumalat na artcard na mababasang, “The biggest artist in 21st century will be a Kapuso,” na halos ang hula nang nakararami ay ang asawa ni Matteo Guidicelli, na nakikipag-usap na rin para sa kanilang paglipat sa Kapuso network.

Lalong lumilinaw ang balita ito, dahil may lumabas na makakasama ni Sarah bilang hurado sina Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose at ang Prince of Philippine Rock na si Bamboo. At si Xian Lim naman ang napipisil na mag-host.

Williams hahakot ng 3 tropeo sa PBAPC Awards Night

IGAGAWAD kay Season 46 Rookie of the Year Mikey Williams ng TNT Tropang Giga ang tatlong tropeo sa 2022 PBA Press Corps Awards Night sa Hunyo 21 sa Novotel Manila Araneta Center.

Pamumunuan ng Fil-Am guard ang All-Rookie team kasama sina Jamie Malonzo (NorthPort), Calvin Oftana (NLEX), Leonard Santillan (Rain or Shine) at Joshua Munzon (Terrafirma).

Naging susi ang 30-anyos na si Williams sa pagkopo ng TNT sa Season 46 Philippine Cup kung saan siya hinirang na Finals MVP.

Kandidato din ang 2020 No. 4 pick overall pick sa Season MVP award at kabilang sa Mythical First Team.

Bukod sa All-Rookie team ay kikilalanin din si Williams bilang Scoring Champion ng Season 46 na tumapos sa two-year reign ni San Miguel wingman CJ Perez.

PASABOG at ito ang naging trending news simula nang mag-out ang bunsong anak na babae ni Megastar Sharon Cuneta at Senator Kiko Pangilinan na si Miel Pangilinan.

Tila hindi nito gusto ang terminong lesbian at pinagdiinan na siya ay proud member ng LGBTQIA+ community at ngayong Pride Month ang unang taon na masasabing open and free na siya.

Para kay Miel, siya ang isang “queer.” Though, nang i-google naman namin ang meaning ng queer, it means a homosexual na gay/lesbian. Sa sobrang dami na talaga from before na dalawa lang naman—bakla o tomboy, so parang gusto pa naming ma-orient kung ano naman daw ang queer talaga.

Bukod sa mga pinsan, kaibigan at dalawa niyang kapatid na babae na sina Frankie Pangilinan at KC Concepcion na nagpahayag ng suporta kay Miel. Ang ina nito na si Sharon ay naglabas na rin ng kanyang saloobin.

At ayon dito, nothing change at bilang ina, suportado niya ang anak na si Miel, “I know that my Miel’s coming out will draw lots of attention. Lots of them will be negative. Lots of people who are quick to judge instead of pausing to think for a moment that my daughter, like so many members of the LGBTQ+ Community, did not choose to be queer.

“She just is. I believe God doesn’t make mistakes. So many of the most sincere and most decent people I know are also LGBTQ+ and I love them for all that they are. What’s next is that I will have a happier daughter who is now “free” and will always be a good person with a good heart – and still always courageous. She is cute in that her crushes on boys especially in K-Pop are genuine. And if she likes girls that’ll be genuine too.

“She will certainly be treated no different by us her family and those who truly love her. I will love her just the same, if not more. Like I said, all my children are PERFECT. I may be a Mom with traditional values, but that doesn’t mean that my mind is too tiny to accept people for what they are – what more my own child? What matters in a person is their goodness.

“Sincerity, pureness of heart. Faith in God. In Miel, I have all those. I am proud of my girl and always will be. Needless to say, she will always have my support and love. No big deal. I love you, my Yellie. With all of my heart, and more than life itself. Be strong! It’s your life, no one else’s. Don’t give any negative commenters any attention. They don’t matter. We do. And we’ve got your back. Forever and ever.”

League of Provinces, pag-uusapan na gawing opsyonal ang pagsusuot ng COVID-19 face mask

PAG-UUSAPAN ng League of Provinces of the Philippines kung gagawing opsyonal ang pagsusuot ng face mask laban sa COVID-19 kapag nasa labas.

“Hindi pa namin talaga napag-uusapan. But I look forward kasi itong Biyernes meron kaming gaganapin na term-ender meeting at sana doon, plano ko rin po makipagkuwentuhan at makipagtanungan sa aming mga kasamahan kung ano ang kanilang pananaw dito sa isyu na ito,” ayon kay League of Provinces of the Philippines National Chairman at Quirino Governor Dakila Cua sa Laging Handa public briefing.

“Nakikita po natin na may LGUs na nagsasabi, pag-aralan man lang, pag-usapan, tingnan ang datos. We ask our IATF to share the data,” dagdag na pahayag ni Cua.

Sa ilalim ng Executive Order No. 16 na ipinalabas ni Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, ang pagsusuot ng face masks ay required na lamang sa mga “closed and air-conditioned spaces.”

Hindi naman kinilala ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang EO ni Garcia, dahil malinaw na sumasalungat ito sa IATF Guidelines na inaprubahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Gayundin, sinabi ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra sna ang IATF resolution hinggil sa mandatory na pagsusuot ng face mask ay umiiral sa bisa ng executive orders na ipinalabas ng local government units.

“The IATF resolutions on the mandatory wearing of face masks, whether indoor or outdoor, are incorporated in and/or enabled by executive orders issued by the President,” paliwanag ni Guevarra.

Sa kabilang dako, sinabi naman ni Cua na nagsisimula nang talakayin at himayin ng provincial government ng Quirino kung susunod sila sa ginawang halimbawa ng Cebu.

“We see that perhaps there should be dimension or depth to this policy at least in the outdoors. Kasi dadating at dadating ang panahon, nakikita po natin, na ang pandemya ay huhupa at magiging isang lokal na matter na lamang po,” ayon kay Cua.

“Siyempre naman po kung makapapanganib sa aming mga kaprobinsyahan, hindi naman namin ipatutupad ‘yung ganu’ng panukala,” paglilinaw nito.

Samantala, nakiisa naman si Cua sa panawagan na pag-aralang mabuti ang policy changes sa paggamit ng face mask sa labas ng bahay o sa mga pampublikong lugar kahit pa sa gitna ng posibleng deklarasyon ng public health emergency sa bansa sa ilalim ng termino ni President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
