LeBron wish ang injury free season para umabot ang Lakers sa playoffs

PANANATILIHIN at uunahin daw ni Lakers superstar LeBron James ang kanyang pangangatawan na injury free habang siya ay naghahanda para sa darating na 20th season ng National Basketball Association (NBA).

Ang 37-anyos na player ay muling mangunguna sa bagong kampanya ng Lakers na makarating sa play-offs matapos na mabigo noong nakaraang taon ang kanilang koponan.

Una rito, nakapasok si James bilang second place sa regular season points scoring standings at naungusan pa ng pwesto ang NBA great na si Karl Malone.

Samantala ang mga NBA teams ay magsisimula na sa kanilang training camps bago ang simula ng season sa sunod na buwan.

HINDI talaga nauubusan ng mga rebelasyon o panggulat ang actress/fashion icon na si Heart Evangelista.

Sa September issue ng L’Officiel Philippines Magazine kunsaan siya ang feature, inamin ni Heart na dumaan siya sa IVF treatment o in-vitro-fertilization para magkaroon ng baby.

Itinuturing ito ni Heart na pinaka-mahirap na journey raw niya, lalo na nga at nagkaroon pa siya ng miscarriage.

“With IVF, they inject you with fertility hormones. It was very difficult and painful. I had three injections a day over a two-week process. After harvesting and the processes that came after, they were able to gather the perfect boy and the perfect girl,” sey niya.

Pero na-realize rin daw ni Heart kung bakit at saan nanggagaling ang pressure niya na magka-baby. Dahil ba personal na gusto niyang magka-anak o dahil ito nga naman ang ine-expect sa kanya ng society.

Mahirap man daw ang pinagdaanan niya, ine-encourage pa rin ni Heart ang mga kababaihan to go for it lalo na raw at hindi naman na kailangang pumunta sa ibang bansa for IVF dahil meron na sa Pilipinas.

Mas makakapag-decide raw kasi ang mga kababaihan kung kailan nila talaga gustong magka-baby bilang nandiyan na lang naman ang embryo.

32 siyudad at bayan, isinailalim sa State of Calamity dahil kay bagyong Karding

KASALUKUYANG nasa 32 mga lungsod at munisipalidad ang nasa ilalim ngayon ng state of calamity.

Ito ang inihayag ni Press Secretary Atty Trixie Cruz-Angeles sa gitna ng patuloy na assessment na ginagawa ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) hinggil sa bagyong Karding.

Wika ni Cruz-Angeles, may 60, 817 katao ang apektado ng bagyong Karding kung saan, 46,000 ang nananatiling nasa iba’t ibang evacuation centers.

Gayunman, sinabi ni Cruz-Angeles na ‘minimal’ pa rin ang naging epekto ng bagyo partikular na sa buhay ng 8 indibidwal na nasawi.

Malaking bagay aniya ang ginawang maagang paglilikas ng mga tao dahilan para hindi naman ganoon kataas ang bilang sa death roll. (Daris Jose)

NANGYARI na nga ang much-awaited collaboration ni Sarah Geronimo sa American pop songwriter na si Jim Brickman at ka-duet pa niya si Matteo Guidicelli.

Sa latest vlog ni Sarah, makikita na nakikipag-usap sila ng asawang si Matteo over the phone sa sikat na pianist at radio host din.

Say ni Jim, “So I was thinking of doing a very special version of my song, ‘The Gift.’ Would you wanna sing it with me?” Na sinagot naman ni Sarah ng, “We would love to! It will be our pleasure, Jim.”

Kasunod nito, ang official video ng ‘The Gift’ na kung saan nagpi-piano si Jim, at nagdu-duet naman sina Sarah at Matteo. Nag-premiere ito sa ASAP last Sunday at nag-Top Trending sa YouTube.

PAALALA SA SAKIT NA LEPTOSPIROSIS

NAGPAALALA ang Department of Health o DOH sa publiko sa mga nakukuhang sakit lalo na ang leptospirosis dahil sa matinding pagbaha dulot ng bagyong Karding.

Sinabi ni DOH-OIC Maria Rosario Vergeire na bunsod ng bagyo, marami ang lumusong sa baha at nag-evacuate kaya inatasan nito ang lahat ng lumusong sa baha na magtungo sa kanilang health centers upang mabigyan ng gamot prophylaxis upang maagapan ang posibilidad na pagkakasakit ng leptospirosis.

” Yung preventive measures natin for specific diseases atin pong pinaalala at isa dun itong leptospirosis”, pahayag pa ni Vergeire

Paalala rin ni Vergeire na kailangang maglinis ng kapaligiran para ang banta ng leptospirosis ay mawala rin.

“Tandaan po natin, nakukuha ang leptospirosis most common dito sa ating bansa through the urine ng isang daga na maaring andun siya sa basurahan, nagbaha, nakasama siya dun sa tubig baha” , ani Vergeire

Pinsala sa agrikultura ni Karding, lumobo na sa P160.1M —DA

LUMOBO na sa P160.1 milyong piso ang pinsala at pagkalugi sa agrikultura dahil sa hagupit ng bagyong Karding.

Sa pinakahuling pagtataya ng Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (DRRM) ng Department of Agriculture (DA), sakop nito ang 16,659 ektarya ng agricultural areas sa Cordillera Administrative Region , Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, at Bicol Region.

“This translates to a volume of production loss of 7,457 metric tons (MT) of commodities such as rice, corn, high value crops, and fisheries affecting 3,780 farmers and fisherfolk,” DA.

“These values are subject to validation. Additional damage and losses are expected in areas affected by ‘Karding’,” ang nakasaad naman sa latest bulletin ng DA, “as of 5 ng hapon, araw ng Lunes, Setyembre 26.

Tiniyak ng ahensiya na available ang tulong sa mga apektadong magsasaka at mangingisda kabilang na ang 133,240 supot ng rice seeds; 5,729 supot ng corn seeds; at 4,911 kilograms ng assorted vegetable seeds.

Mayroon din itong gamot at biologics para sa “livestock at poultry,” at fingerlings at tulong sa pamamagitan ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

Sinabi pa ng departamento na maaari nilang gamitin ang Survival and Recovery (SURE) Program ng Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), at P500-milyong halaga ng Quick Response Fund (QRF) para sa rehabilitasyon ng mga apektadong lugar. (Daris Jose)

‘Di nila pipigilan ni Vic kung ‘yun ang gusto ng anak: PAULEEN, magiging stage mother ‘pag tuluyan nang nag-artista si TALI

SA presscon ng show nila sa NET25 na Love, Bosleng and Tali ay winika ni Bossing Vic Sotto na dapat daw siya lang ang kasama sa show nang pag-usapan nila ito ni Direk Chris Martinez.

Na-delay lang daw ang pagsisimula nito dahil sa pandemic pero nung mag-usap ni Direk Chris ay isama na rin sa cast sina Pauleen at Tali.

Binibiro ni Bossing Vic si Pauleen na magiging stage mother daw ito kung sakaling tuluyang pasukin ng anak nilang si Tali ang showbiz.

Hindi naman itinanggi ni Pauleen na possible nga siyang maging stage mother. Inspired kasi si Pauleen sa kanyang mommy na iniwan ang trabaho at naging stage mom sa kanya nang mag-artista siya.

Balak din niya na gawin kung sakaling mag-artista rin full-time si Tali.

Sabi naman ni Bossing Vic, hindi niya pipigilan si Tali kung sakaling gusto nitong mag-artista.

Sa ngayon daw ay nage-enjoy ang bata sa paglabas sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ at sa ‘Love Bosleng at Tali’ kaya hinayaan lang nila nila.

Susuportahan naman daw nila nila ni Pauleen si Tali kung talagang gusto nitong umarte.

MAY bagong single ang Parody King na si Denin Sy titled ‘Minsan Kape, Minsan Ikaw.’

Ang awitin, na prinodyus at distributed ng Delta Records, ay ang bagong composition mula sa singer-songwriter na marami na rin naman naisulat na kanta na may catchy lyrics at melodies tulad ng ‘Magbabalik Sa Iyo,’ ‘Sabi Mo Usap Lang’ at ‘Pasensiya Ka Na God Bless.’

Kilala rin si Denin sa parody ng theme song ng “Bioman’ na umani nang million views sa Facebook.

Sa isang interview, sinabi ni Denin na nagkakape siya sa loob ng kotse nang bigla siyang nagkaroon ng idea na sumulat ng kanta on that coffee moment.

Nang makauwi siya, kinuha niya ang gitara at nagsimula sumulat ng kanta. After a few minutes ay nabuo na niya ang ‘Minsan Kape, Minsan Ikaw.’

Architect by profession si Denin at ang sabi niya na may similarity ang paggawa ng kanta at architecture.

“Ang lyrics at melody sa kanta ay parang form and function sa architecture. Isa pang similarity ay pwedeng mong i-improve at i-revise ang kanta na sinulat mo,” saad ni Denin.

Pangarap ni Denin na ang sana ang ilan sa mga compositions niya ay magamit na theme song sa pelikula, teleserye at commercial jingles.

LTO: Local traffic enforcers, hindipuwedengkumpiskahin ang drivers’ licenses

PINURI ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang bagong memorandum na inilabas ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na nagbabawal sa mga lokal na traffic enforcers na kumpiskahin ang mga drivers’ licenses ng mga lumabag sa batas trapiko.

Diniin ng DILG na ang may kapangyarihan lamang nakumpiskahin ang mga drivers’ licenses ay ang mga deputized agents ng LTO sa panghuhuli sa mga traffic violators.

“The LTO appreciates the action of the DILG in ordering local government units and local police forces around the country not to confiscate drivers’ licenses during apprehension for this action is solely reserved for the LTO and its deputized agents ang law enforcement personnel,” wika ng LTO sa isang pahayag.

Ang nasabing desisyon ay naaayon sa ruling mula sa Supreme Court at Republic Act 10930 na sinusugan ang Land Transportation and Traffic Code na siyang nagbibigay sa mga deputized LTO agents at law enforcement personnel ng sole authority upang kumpiskahin ang license.

Subalit iba ang pananaw ng lungsod na pamahalaan ng Manila. Kanilang ginigiit na may karapatan ang lungsod na pamahalaan ng Manila na kumpiskahin ang mga drivers’ licenses ng mga erring motorists kahit pa may order na ang DILG na inaalisan sila ng kapangyarihan.

“While the city government respects the policies issued by the DILG on traffic enforcers’ confiscation of motorists’ licenses, the City of Manila continues to implement its local traffic laws, according to Ordinance 8092, Traffic Code of the City of Manila,” ayon sa lungsod ng pamahalaan ng Manila.

Dagdag pa nila naayon sa Local Government Code na siyang nagbibigay ng kapangyarihan sa lokal na pamahalaan sa buong bansa na maaaring gumawa sila ng mga kanilang sariling batas. Kung kaya’t ito ang nagbibigay sa kanila ng assurance na maykapangyarihan ang lungsod na pamahalaan ng Manila na magpatupad ng kanilang sariling polisia kasama na rito ang pagpapatupad ng mga batas trapiko, panghuhuli ng mga traffic violators at pagkumpiska ng drivers’ licenses.

Ganon pa man ang lungsod na pamahalaan ng Manila ay nirerespeto ang desisyon ng DILG. Ayon din sa nasabing memo na dapat ang mga authorities maliban sa LTO ay kinakailangan na humingi ng permission mula sa huli sa pagkukumpiska ng mga drivers’ licenses.

Makikipag-ugnayan naman si Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna kay DILG secretary Benhur Abalos upang pag-usapan ang nasabing issue.

Sa kabilang dako, pinaalalahanan naman ng LTO ang mga motorista na huwag magmaneho kung nakainom o nag-take ng drugs dahil sa panganib na puwedeng idulot nito sa driver at pasahero. Mula January hanggang August ay may naitalang 476 na drivers ang nahuli dahil ng sila ay nasangkot sa mga aksidente.

“Time and again, we have all seen the disastrous consequences brought about by drunk or drugged driving, more importantly during the Yuletide season, where many families go out to celebrate and be merry. It is time that we change that mindset in order to avert the loss of life and property,” saad ni LTO assistant secretary Teofilo Guadiz. LASACMAR

DBM, naglaan ng P15.2B budget para sa DMW para sa taong 2023

NAGLAAN ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ng P15.2 bilyong piso sa bagong itinatag na Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) sa ilalim ng panukalang P5.268-trillion 2023 national budget.

Sa kalatas na ipinalabas ng DBM, sinabi nito na sa kabuuang halaga, P3.5 bilyong piso ang inilaan sa Office of the Secretary ng DMW.

Tinatayang 77% o P2.7 bilyong piso ng budget para sa Office of the Secretary ng DMW ang mapupunta sa Overseas Employment and Welfare Program, kabilang rito ang P1.2 billion AKSYON Fund alinsunod sa Republic Act No 11641.

Gayundin, sa ilalim ng Seksyon 20 ng Republic Act No. 11641 o Migrant Workers Act, ang Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ay may mandato bilang attached agency ng DMW.

Dahil dito, sa ilalim ng 2023 National Expenditure Program, tinatayang P10.039 bilyong piso ang inilaan sa Emergency Repatriation Program of OWWA.

Sakop nito ang 367,287 OFWs, ayon sa DBM.

Ang nasabing programa ay naglalayong magbigay ng tulong upang maibalik ang mga distressed OFWs at labi ng tao sa Pilipinas.

“Workers are provided with proper help, temporary shelter at the OWWA Halfway Home, psycho-social counseling, stress debriefing, and transport services to their respective localities, ” ayon sa DBM.

“The budget allocation for DMW and OWWA is in line with the Marcos administration’s commitment to uphold the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and ensure the efficient delivery of services and assistance to OFWs,” wika pa ng Budget Department .

“Our OFWs are our modern day heroes. We honor their sacrifices, as they work hard to uplift the lives of their families and to enhance our country’s economy through their remittances,” ayon naman kay Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

Tiniyak pa ng Kalihim na “full support” ang DBM sa adbokasiya ng Pangulo na mapabuti ang kondisyon ng mga OFWs.

“We know and feel the difficulties our kababayans face by being far from their loved ones and we continue to ensure that they will be afforded with the appropriate support they need,” ayon kay Pangandaman.

“Other programs included in the DMW budget allocation for 2023 are the Overseas Employment Regulatory Program, Labor Migration Policy and International Cooperation Program, Maritime Research and Skills Competency Program, and Provision for OFW Hospital and Diagnostic Center under Overseas Employment and Welfare Program among others,” ayon sa DBM. JOHN BOYEGA ASCENDS TO THE THRONE AS KING GHEZO IN “THE WOMAN KING”

“HE walks as though the earth were honored by its burden.” When John Boyega (Star Wars franchise) read that line for Columbia Pictures’ epic action adventure The Woman King, he knew he would accept the role of King Ghezo.

“It is one of the first lines that [director] Gina Prince-Bythewood quoted to me in her letter about taking the part,” he says. “It thoroughly describes him. And it gives me the opportunity to show a versatility in acting that would be quite exciting for the role.”

Having recently staged a successful coup – with the help of the Agojie warriors – which deposed his brother from his reign, Ghezo is new to the throne. “He is a conflicted young king who is dealing with the variance of decisions,” says Boyega. “This is a very complicated time in his history. After a controversial rise to the throne, he’s at a point where leadership and decision-making is going to mean everything for the future of the Dahomey people.”

The judgments he will have to make could not be more important or far-reaching. “He is confronted with a decision Nanisca has put in the forefront of his mind about the impact of a human atrocity in their society: whether or not to have such substantial involvement in the slave trade as much as other kings,” notes Boyega. “The slave trade is going through a transition in that time. I’d call Ghezo as conflicted as anything else, and a young man dealing with the struggles of power on his neck.”

“When I finished reading the script, the first person that came to my mind for Ghezo was John Boyega. I was like, ‘It’s gotta be John!’,” recalls Prince-Bythewood. “When John walks on set, people stop – you feel his power and his presence. What he’s bringing to this character is even more than we could have imagined. He literally is our king.”

King Ghezo was a real historical figure, and much of his story in The Woman King is drawn from true events. “It makes it an interesting process to explore a character who actually existed,” says Boyega. “I had historical texts as well as several books that Gina recommended. He did some things I agree with, and some I disagree with, but in the end, you have to separate yourself from the research. I’m here to show the lived experience and create a character around the research that we did.”
