QC residents nakinabang sa naibabang financial assistance: AIKO, ginawaran ng ‘National Outstanding Humanitarian and Leadership Service’

UMABOT na sa 10,500 residente ng Quezon City ang napagkalooban ng financial assistance na naibaba sa pamamagitan ni Councilor Aiko Melendez.

 

 

Bukod sa financial assistance, nakapagbaba rin katumbas ng P20 million medical assistance sa pamamagitan ng guarantee letters si Melendez na kamakailan ay ginawaran ng “National Outstanding Humanitarian and Leadership Service”. Kasama niya sa mga pinarangalan si Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte na kinilala bilang “National Outstanding Mayor of the Philippines” ng Saludo Excellence Award.

 

 

Sinabi ni Melendez na ito ay naging possible dahilan sa makabuluhang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga mambabatas at sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa pangunguna ni Sec. Rex Gatchalian.

 

 

Ayon sa kanya, nakatanggap ng ayudang P1,000 to P2,000 ayuda ang kanyang mga kadistrito sa ilalim ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis o AICS ng DSWD simula nang muli siyang maupo bilang konsehal ng ikalimang distrito. Nauna nang nagsilbi bilang konsehal ng Quezon City si Melendez noong 2001 hanggang 2010.

 

 

“Ang AICS ay diretsong tulong na ipinagkakaloob ng DSWD sa mga Pilipinong humaharap sa krisis. Ang layunin natin ay maseguro na walang mamamayan ang maiiwan, at kami ay patuloy na magsusumikap upang mas marami pang maabot ng proramang ito mula sa Lungsod ng Quezon,” sabi ni Melendez.

 

 

Sa harap ng patuloy na pag-usbong ng krisis at pangangailangan ng mga mamamayan, sinabi ni Melendez na patuloy siyang magsusumikap upang maging boses ng mga nangangailangan at magkaruon ng positibong pag-asa sa buhay ng mga taga Quezon City.

 

 

Kabilang sa mga mambabatas na nagbaba ng pondo sa ikalimang distrito sa pamamagitan ng DSWD ay sina Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa Senator Grace Poe, Senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid, Senator Robin Padilla, at Senator Joel Villanueva.

 

 

Nagpasalamat si Melendez sa tulong ng mga mambabatas at ng DSWD na pinakainabangan ng may 10,500 residente mula sa ikalimang distrito.

 

 

“Ako’y nagpapasalamat na naging daan ang aming tanggapan upang itong tulong mula sa national government at sa ating mga mambabatas ay maibaba sa ating mga kadistrito na humaharap sa kahirapan at pagsubok sa kanilang buhay,” sabi ni Melendez.

 

 

Nangako naman si Melendez na patuloy siyang makikipag-ugnayan sa lahat ng sector na maaring magkaloob ng tulong para sa mamamayan ng Quezon City.

NCH NASUNGKIT ANG HOSPITAL STAR AWARD

MULING kinilala ng Department of Health (DOH), sa pamamagitan ng Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau, ang Navotas City Hospital (NCH) bilang isa sa Top 15 Level 1 na ospital sa bansa.

 

 

Ang pagkilalang ito ay ibinigay sa NCH para sa pagtataguyod ng kalidad ng pangangalagang pangkalusugan habang patuloy na naghahanap ng pagbabago sa paghahatid ng pangangalaga sa pasyente.

 

 

Si Dr. Spica Acoba, NCH Medical Director, at Dr. Roan Salafranca, Chief of Clinics, ay tumanggap ng parangal sa seremonya ng 2023 DOH Hospital Star Awards na ginanap sa Iloilo City.

 

 

“We will continue to draw inspiration from this milestone to meet the challenges and further provide excellent medical and health facilities to our constituents,” ani Mayor John Rey Tiangco.

 

 

Ngayong taon, pinasinayaan ng Navotas ang mga karagdagang pasilidad sa kalusugan, kabilang ang isang bagong laboratoryo sa Navotas City Hospital at isang molecular laboratory sa Brgy. NBBS Dagat-dagatan. Naghahanda na rin ito para sa pagtatayo ng isang super health center sa Brgy. NBBS Kaunlaran.

SIMULA ngayong Sabado, November 18, 11:30 p.m mapapanood na ang ‘Dear SV’ sa GMA-7.
Ipi-feature sa public service program na hino-host ni Tutok to Win Party List Representative Sam “SV” Verzosa, ang mga bagong episodes na kung saan hina-highlight ang nakaka-inspire na kuwento ng mga ordinaryong Pinoy na hindi nawawalan ng pag-asa at nananatiling matatag sa kabila ng mga pakikibaka at hamon na hinaharap nila araw-araw.
Ang ‘Dear SV’ na nag-premiere sa CNN Philippines last February, ay nagsilbing liwanag at pag-asa sa mga individuals at communities sa buong bansa sa pagbibigay ng tulong sa pamamagitan ng sustainable livelihood, scholarships, employment at financial assistance.
Ayon kay Rep. SV na CEO at co-founder mg Frontrow International at Frontrow Cares, “I’m so grateful to my first home network for giving me the oppurtunity to venture into TV hosting.”
Isa nga sa hindi malilimutang encounters ng President ng Maserati Philippines ay ang 86 year-old na si Lola Fedeng na isang pedicap driver.
“To me, that was really an eye opener.  Imagine, Lola Fedeng still works at het old age.  She actually represents the majority of Filipinos who belong to the poverty line, but are still working hard to make both ends meet.
“Her story is really is really inspiring.  That’s what we want to share and to inspire more.”
Sa mga episodes na ipalalabas sa ‘Dear SV’, maraming na-experience si Sam sa unang pagkakataon tulad ng pagpi-pedal ng pedicab, paglilinis ng isda sa wet market at marami pang iba.
Ipinagmamalaki ni Sam na Director of Charity ng Miss Universe Philippines, na dahil sa ginawang immersion sa show, natututunan niya ang higit pang mga aral sa buhay.
“My close encounters with Lola Fedeng, Tatay Rolando, Ronnie and others have humbled me.  Now, I am grateful and content with what I have,” seryosong pahayag ni Sam na naging emosyonal sa mediacon nang mapanood ang pasilip sa mga episodes na mapapanood sa ‘Dear SV’.
Pahayag pa ng founder ng Batang Sampaloc Foundation Inc., pinagpapatuloy niya ang legacy ng yumaong ama na tulungan ang mga nangangailangan.  Kaya patuloy siya sa pagbabahagi ng mga blessings na natatatanggap.
Palagi rin niyang tinatandaan ang advice ng butihing ama na, ‘Never forget to give back.’
Inamin din ni Rep. Sam na super supportive ang kanyang girlfriend na si Rhian Ramos sa kanyang advocacy.
Happy rin ang Kapuso actress na magkasama na sila sa isang network.
“Total support talaga si Rhian, minsan sumasama siya sa shoot namin,” say niya.
“Then, one time, wala sa plano, sabi namin, why not samahan niya ako na ibigay ang regalo sa isang karapat-dapat na tao.
“Pero dahil nandun siya to support me, bigla siyang lumabas sa isang episode na kinunan namin sa Davao de Oro, na malayong lugar.”
Hindi na naman bago kay Rhian ang tumulong, dahil active talaga ito sa kanyang advocacies, na isa sa napagkakasunduan nila ni Sam.
“Matagal na siyang gumagawa ng mga charities niya, lalo na pag birthday niya.
“Kaya maganda, dahil iisa ang advocacy namin.  Actually, nung umpisa pa lang kami na magkakilala, yun pangrap ko at pangarap niya ay magtayo ng community na sustainable na makatutulong sa mga tao.
“Kaya medyo nagulat kami, dahil pareho ang gusto namin at isa yun sa nag-connect sa amin noong bago pa lang kami nagkakilala.”
Dagdag pa ni Sam, “ang laking bagay talaga ang support niya plus yun non-stop na advices niya.  Minsan kasi, kinakabahan pa ako bago mag-shoot, kaya siya ang nagbibigay ng inspirasyon at mga advice.”
At dahil mapapanood na ang ‘Dear SV’ sa GMA, asahan na susuportahan siya ng mga Kapuso stars sa kanyang future episodes.
“Yan po ang nabanggit sa akin ng mga GMA executives, na kung pwedeng pumasok ang mga Sparkle at Kapuso artists sa show, para makapagbigay ng inspirasyon at makatulong sa iba.”
Panghuli pang pahayag ni Rep. Sam na pinaka-layunin ng ‘Dear SV’ ay, “my advocavy is to help who help the helpless who work hard to improve their standard of living.  And that’s exactly what ‘Dear SV’ stands for.”

PINAGLAWAY ni Matteo Guidicelli ang mga accla sa social media nang mag-post ito sa kanyang Instagram na kita ang kanyang six-pack abs.

 

 

Kuha iyon sa pelikulang pinagbibidahan ni Matteo na ‘Penduko’ na official entry ng Viva Films sa 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.

 

 

May nag-comment na ang suwerte raw ng misis nitong si Sarah Geronimo dahil pagmamay-ari raw nito ng kabuuan ni Matteo.

 

 

May isang comment naman na sana mag-share si Sarah ng pandesal ni Matteo. May isa namang nag-comment na huwag sanang mawala ang abs ni Matteo kapag may anak na sila ni Sarah.

 

 

Pinost din ni Matteo ang costume niya bilang si Penduko na black leather sleeveless top para makita ang mga maskuladong braso nito.

Ayon sa People magazine, the 59-year old Oscar winner “is introducing Ines as his girlfriend.”

BIG-SCREEN SPECTACLE “WONKA,” IS “THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS MOVIE,” SAYS DIRECTOR PAUL KING

WHEN director Paul King, known for the family-favorite Paddington movies, was a child, one of the first books he read was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by beloved children’s book author Roald Dahl. 

“I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” says King. “I read it again and again until the pages fell out of the cover. I remember loving the wild comedy, all the crazy characters, and the magic and mayhem of the chocolate factory.”

 

 

Years later, King would read it again from the perspective of an adult – and he found new things to love about the story! “When David [Heyman, producer] mentioned the idea of making a Wonka movie, I read it again and realized it also has an incredibly rich, almost Dickensian emotional core,” shares the director. “Charlie is such a kind, decent little boy and his family’s poverty causes them such suffering. The fact he goes on to inherit the factory, a more wonderful gift than he could ever have dreamt, had me in floods of tears – and the prospect of trying to make a film which captured Dahl’s spirit was too exciting to turn down.”

 

 

Wonka tells the story of Willy Wonka’s younger days, when he was just starting out as a chocolate-maker hoping to share his chocolate with the world by setting up shop at the cathedral of candy known as the Galeries Gourmet – with nothing but a few sovereigns (coins) and a hat full of dreams. A prequel to the 2005 hit Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka is written by King and produced by David Heyman, himself no stranger to magical worlds, having produced all Harry Potter movies.

 

 

Working with Heyman is “a true creative partnership,” says King. “I love David’s ideas, his taste and sensibility. He’s my first audience and the only person as tough on the film as I am. We share the same aspirations, and the same pain when we feel we’ve fallen short. He’s a relentless perfectionist, and not only supports me every step of the way.”

 

 

The film’s genius filmmaking team is complemented by a very talented ensemble cast, led by Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka. “Timothée gives an absolutely extraordinary performance,” says King. “Willy is strange and unnerving, funny and charming but with a glint of steel, and Timothée somehow keeps all these plates spinning at once. He needed to be able to sing and dance and deliver a very carefully choreographed performance, yet also dig deep into his emotions, and I was constantly amazed.”

 

 

In the film, Willy has a very much-needed friend in Noodle, played by a “brilliant young actress called Calah Lane.” Supporting but no less whimsical characters are played by a powerhouse cast that includes Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Keegan-Michael Key, Hugh Grant and Rowan Atkinson. “Rowan is one of my longtime comedy heroes and it was an honor and delight to work with him,” says King of the actor beloved the world over for playing Mr. Bean.

Of the decision to cast Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa, King says it was a very easy one to make. “The Oompa Loompas don’t have much dialogue in the books but they do have these long songs where they take an almost gleeful pleasure in the demise of all the ghastly children who tour the factory,” says King. “They’re so funny and biting and scornful, and as I was reading them, Hugh’s voice kept coming into my head. From there, it wasn’t a huge step to go, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny to see him eighteen inches high with bright green hair and orange skin?’ It was perfect.”

Of course, the movie wouldn’t be complete without the chocolates! Of the many chocolate creations in Wonka, does King have any favorites? “Well, the Hoverchocs are delicious,” shares the director. “Sadly, they don’t literally make you fly, but we had our very own chocolate maker on the team, Gabrielle Cugno, who made the most exquisite creations. And I can personally vouch for the fact they are the most delicious chocolates I’ve ever had. You bite into them and there’s that perfect chocolatey snap, and as they melt in your mouth, you taste more and more delicate flavors. My favorite part of the whole process was tasting her chocolate (which I did far more often than was technically necessary). I think I gained about fifty pounds.”

A magical world full of fun and colorful characters and lots and lots of sweet treats, “Wonka is the perfect Christmas movie,” says the director. “It’s like a great chocolate. It’s got a fun, colorful exterior and a warm, sweet center which will leave you with a delicious aftertaste! And while it would be great fun to scoff the whole box down on your own, you’re better off sharing it with your family and friends.”

 

 

Ready for your holiday treat? Wonka opens in Philippine cinemas December 6, one week ahead of the U.S. A perfect Christmas indeed!

BINATI ni Mayor John Rey Tiangco ang nasa 40 drug surrenderees na nagkaroon ng pagkakataong magbagong buhay sa pamamagitan ng community-based drug rehabilitation program ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Navotas, ang BIDAHAN. Ang mga kalahok sa BIDAHAN ay sumasailalim sa serye ng counselling sessions sa loob ng anim na buwan, at random drug testing para masiguro ang pagsunod nila sa programa. (Richard Mesa)
