IBINASURA ng China ang “unwarranted accusation” o protesta ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas laban sa unilateral imposition nito sa fishing ban sa mga lugar na extended sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Sinabi ni Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian na ang naging deklarasyon ng Beijing na fishing ban, na naging epektibo noong Mayo 1 ay inaasahan na magtatagal hanggang Agosto 16, ay standard measure para pangalagaan ang resources nito.
“The summer fishing moratorium in the South China Sea adopted by China is a normal measure of protecting marine biological resources in waters under China’s jurisdiction, and a manifestation of fulfilling obligations under international law including UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) by the Chinese side,”ayon kay Lijian.
Sinabi pa ng China na hindi nito matatanggap ang “unwarranted accusation” ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas.
Sa halip, kailangan aniyang tingnan ng Pilipinas ang fishing ban sa “objective and correct perspective.”
Mayo 30, naghain ng diplomatic protest ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) hinggil sa nasabing usapin.
Sinabi ng DFA na in-extend ng China ang fishing ban sa mga lugar na “far beyond” sa kanilang legitimate maritime entitlements sa ilalim ng 1982 UNCLOS at walang basehan sa batas.
“It also reaffirmed the 2016 arbitral ruling that invalidated Beijing’s sweeping claims to the waters – a landmark decision which the Asian giant continues to ignore,” ayon sa DFA. (Daris Jose)
