Get to know more about the characters of Concrete Utopia and the actors and actresses that portrayed them, as described by director Um Tae-hwa.
YOUNG-TAK, Resident Delegate of Hwang Gung Apartments
Played by: Lee Byung-hun
Young-tak, a resident of Hwang Gung Apartments, caught everyone’s attention when he rushed inside a burning house without hesitation to put out a fire. His selfless act of risking his own life led him to be elected as the Resident Delegate. After that, when the situation calls for desperate measures, Young-tak puts himself on the line again, which leads to him gaining more trust and confidence among the residents.
Director Um Tae-hwa is all praises for Lee Byung-hun. “There was a scene when he expressed all his character has gone through through his facial expression alone,” says Um. “It was a moment when I witnessed the true definition of cinema.”
MIN-SUNG, a family man struggling for his family’s survival

For Min-sung, surviving this chaos with his beloved wife Myung-hwa is his top priority. Having previously served as an auxiliary policeman, and currently working as a public servant, he unintentionally drew the attention of the other residents, which led him to be chosen as the leader of the anti-crime force by Young-tak. As he witnesses Young-tak’s unwavering devotion toward other people and his decisiveness in leading the survivors, Min-sung himself gradually changes and starts to resemble him in a way.
“I was certain he could portray a wide range of different aspects of Min-sung,” says director Um of Park Seo-jun. “I hoped I could bring it out of him. I’m confident that the audience will be captivated by his performance.”
MYUNG-HWA, the one who tries to hold on to her values

A resident of Hwang Gung Apartments, living in unit 602. After the unexpected catastrophe brought by a massive earthquake, she tries to keep calm and think of ways to live on with her husband, Min-sung. Myung-hwa has no hesitation in sharing her home with outsiders who have nowhere to go in the cold, and takes the initiative in caring for the injured residents as a nurse. She grows concerned as she notices changes in residents over time.
Director Um says of Park Bo-young, “I was always curious and wanted to see another aspect of PARK Bo-young different from the images of her that we are familiar with. She has satisfied all of that.”
Directed by Um Tae-hwa, Concrete Utopia is loosely based on Part 2 of the hit webtoon “Joyful Outcast” (“Pleasant Neighbors”) and stars an ensemble of A-list Korean actors including Lee Byung-hun, Park Seo-jun, Park Bo-young, Park Ji-hu, Kim Do-yoon and Kim Sun-young. It is a disaster thriller about the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. The film will follow the story that begins when the survivors gather at Hwang Gung Apartments, the only building left standing in an earthquake-ravaged Seoul.

Sa ika-anim na edisyon ng ‘The EDDYS’… AGA, RICHARD, at GABBY, kasama sa walong movie icons na pararangalan
WALONG tinitingala at itinuturing nang haligi ng entertainment industry ang gagawaran ng espesyal na pagkilala sa gaganaping 6th Entertainment Editors’ Choice o The EDDYS ngayong 2023.
Bibigyang-pugay ng Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) sa ika-anim na edisyon ng The EDDYS ang hindi matatawarang kontribusyon ng mga napiling Icon awardees sa industriya ng pelikulang Filipino.
Ang mga EDDYS Icon honorees ngayong taon ay sina Aga Muhlach, Richard Gomez, Gabby Concepcion at Niño Muhlach. Kasama rin sa mga parar
angalan bilang EDDYS Icons sa The 6th EDDYS sina Snooky Serna, Jaclyn Jose, Barbara Perez at Nova Villa.
Samantala, kabilang sa mga bibigyan ng Isah V. Red Award sina Herbert Bautista, Rosa Rosal, Coco Martin at Piolo Pascual para sa walang sawa nilang pagtulong at pagbibigay ng inspirasyon sa mga kababayan nating nangangailangan.
Igagawad naman sa The 6th EDDYS ang Joe Quirino Award sa veteran entertainment columnist, dating TV host at content creator na rin ngayon na si Aster Amoyo. Ang beteranong manunulat naman at dati ring entertainment editor na si Ed de Leon ang tatanggap ng Manny Pichel Award.
Samantala, ang napiling Producer of the Year naman ay ang Viva Films habang ang Rising Producer of the Year naman ay igagawad sa MavX Productions. Kamakailan ay inihayag na ng SPEEd ang magaganap na 6th Entertainment Editors’ Choice sa darating na Oktubre, 22, 2023 sa EVM Convention Center, 37 Central Avenue, Quezon City, mula sa direksyon ng award-winning actor at filmmaker na si Eric Quizon.
Ihahatid ng Airtime Marketing Philippines na pag-aari ng event producer na si Tessie Celestino-Howard ang ikaanim na edisyon ng The EDDYS. Magkakaroon din ito ng delayed telecast sa NET 25 na pinamumunuan ng Presidente nitong si Caesar Vallejos, sa Oct 28, 2023.
Ang annual event na ito na mula sa samahan ng mga entertainment editors sa Pilipinas ay nagbibigay ng pagkilala at pagpapahalaga sa mga pelikula at personalidad na itinuturing na “best of the best” sa Philippine Cinema.
Mamimigay ng 14 acting at technical awards ang SPEEd para sa The 6th EDDYS na pipiliin mula sa mga nominadong pelikula na ipinalabas sa mga sinehan at ilang digital platforms noong 2022.
Ang SPEEd ay binubuo ng mga current at former entertainment editors ng mga leading newspaper at online site sa Pilipinas, sa pangunguna ng presidente nitong si Eugene Asis ng “People’s Journal”.

Nagmistulang fan si Andrea at natupad ang wish: BEA, puring-puri ni DENNIS at iba pang co-stars sa serye
IBANG klase rin ang pagtingin ng mga Kapuso sa New Generation Movie Queen na si Bea Alonzo.
Talagang todo max ang pagpuri kay Bea ng kanyang mga co-stars sa bagong GMA Primetime series na “Love Before Sunrise.”
Si Andrea Torres ay nagmistulang fan na fan ni Bea na aminadong nang malaman na Kapuso na ang actress, talagang winish na makasama niya.
At si Dennis Trillo na leading man ni Bea at masasabing kasabayan niya noon ay nai-starstruck pa raw rito.
At sabi pa niya, “Parang sobrang magical para sa akin. Biruin mo, halos nagsimula kami ni Bea noon sa ABS-CBN.
Sabay kaming nagwo-workshop. Sabay kaming nagkaroon ng unang dance production sa TV.
“Sabay kaming ni-launch, sabay kaming nagre-rehearsal. Tapos ‘eto, after 20 years, gagawa naman kami ng isang napakagandang proyekto.”
Ang kay Dennis, talagang humahanga raw siya kay Bea dahil sa layo na nang narating nito pagdating sa career.
Sey pa niya, “Feeling ko, sobrang blessed ko and proud. Hindi naman kahit sino, nakakatrabaho ang isang Bea Alonzo.

Sa Lunes, September 25 na ang pilot ng “Love Before Sunrise” na papalit sa magtatapos na “Royal Blood.” Napanood na namin ang pilot episode at feel namin na magugustuhan at mae-enjoy ito ng mga Kapuso viewers.

ANG haba ng caption ni Chito Miranda bilang depensa sa mga natanggap na negative at pangngunguwestiyon talaga ng mga netizens sa ginawang weekly meal plan ni Neri Naig.
Kung pagbabasehan talaga ang mga comments sa post ni Neri, halos lahat ay walang sumang-ayon dito at sinabihan nga na para lang daw ba mapanindigan ang title niya na “Wais na Misis.”
Dinilete na raw ni Neri ang post nito.
Nilahad ni Chito ang hindi nasabi ni Neri sa post niya. Tulad ng most of the sahog na gulay ay galing pala sa farm nila. At kung pang-ilang tao rin. Marami kasi na hindi talaga malinaw na nilahad ni Neri, though personally, parang imposible pa rin talaga na ma-achieve sa halagang isang libo lang sa ngayon.
Bahagi ng post ni Chito, “Grabe di ba? Naisip lang naman ng asawa ko na baka sakaling makatulong yung meal plan nya sa mga tao that might find it useful, na-bash pa siya ng mga taong hindi naman nakasubaybay kung bakit ginawa niya yung meal plan.

SA mga hindi nakakaalam, bukod sa pagiging aktres sa telebisyon, pelikula at teatro ay isang drama teacher si Pinky Amador.
“At this point in my career where I need to be giving back, that’s where you find the satisfaction. “That happened when I started teaching. I became head of the drama department of Mint College [2011 -2015].”
Lumipat si Pinky sa Thames International kung saan kumuha siya ng kursong Innovative and Creative Enterprise at nagturo ng Basic Acting and Performance Arts.
“In the pandemic, all our income dropped, if not vanished, teaching buoyed me up.
“I was able to form my own start-up [Amador Creative Concepts]. I give workshops to groups, individuals, organizational workshops. I am teaching basic acting and performance arts.
“We are a mission-based cultural, educational workshops to companies, organizations and individuals.”
May speaking engagement si Pinky, sa ilalim ng kanyang Amador Creative Concepts, bilang resource person at lecturer sa Likha Creative Summit sa September 21 sa Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Nagtuturo rin siya ng Theater Acting matapos kumpletuhin ang kanyang Master’s Degree in Theater sa United Kingdom sa pamamagitan ng isang scholarship mula sa British Council.
Nag-aral rin siya sa Bristol Old Vic Theater School na affiliated sa University of West England.
Ang namamahala ng showbiz career ni Pinky ay si Arnold Vegafria ng ALV Talent Circuit.
Si Pinky ay sikat na kontrabidang si Moira sa ‘Abot Kamay Na Pangarap’.
