PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie is top dog!

The sequel about everyone’s favorite mighty pups debuted at the top of the U.S. box office over the weekend with $23 million, bringing its worldwide total to $46.1 million – a mighty achievement given that the movie has opened at just 53% of the worldwide market. The film will open wider globally soon, including October 11 in the Philippines.

Directed by Cal Brunker, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie has scored well with moviegoers – mostly families with young children – who gave the film an A cinemascore. It holds an 82% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In their review, Variety said that PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie “delivers on the promise of a smart and salient sequel with bolder action, bigger stakes, and deeper resonance for all ages.”

Screenrant also praised the sequel saying, “Its lessons are bare bones but relatable, with the kiddos easily able to take everything in without being overwhelmed, especially if they’re already familiar with the characters.”

DoT, naglunsad ng one-stop call center para sa tourism concerns

MAAARI nang kontakin ng mga lokal at dayuhang turista ang one-stop call center na maaaring tugunan ang kanilang mga concerns na may kinalaman sa kanilang pag-byahe.

Nauna rito, inilunsad ng Department of Tourism ang kauna-unahan at sentralisadong multi-platform Tourist Assistance Call Center sa isang seremonya sa tanggapan ng departamento sa Makati City.

“The effort of the Department of Tourism is to ensure that we continue to provide innovative services to the industry that correspond to the demand of our customers and clients,” ayon kay DoT Secretary Christina Garcia Franco sa isang mensahe sa idinaos na event.

“We foresee that by providing this tourist assistance call center, this will enhance the tourism experience,” ayon pa rin sa Kalihim.

Utang ng Pinas, lumobo sa P14.35 trilyon

LUMOBO pa sa P14.35 trilyon ang utang ng Pilipinas nitong katapusan ng Agosto.

Sinabi ng Bureau of Treasury (BoT) na ang kabuuang utang ng bansa ay tumaas ng P105.28 bilyon o 10.7 percent mula noong Hulyo dahil na rin sa pagbaba ng piso mula 54.834 hanggang 56.651 laban sa dolyar.

Sa kabuuang debt stock, 31.8 percent dito ay inutang sa labas ng bansa habang ang 68.2 percent ay inutang sa loob ng bansa.

Lumalabas na ang domestic debt o utang sa loob ng bansa nitong katapusan ng Agosto ay umabot na sa P9.79 trilyon.

Habang ang utang sa labas ng bansa ay umakyat sa P4.56 trilyon na P126.52 bilyon o 2.9 percent mas mataas “mont-on-month dahil sa huminang piso.

Matatandaan na ang running debt stock ng national government nitong katapusan ng Hulyo ay P14.24 trilyon matapos na itaas ng gobyerno ang kanilang fund raising efforts sa domestic market bilang suporta na rin sa budgetary requirements. (Daris Jose)

LTO tutulong sa panghuhuli ng EDSA bus lane violators

TUTULONG ang Land Transportation Office (LTO) sa Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sa panghuhuli ng mga motoristang ilegal na gumagamit ng EDSA bus lane.

Maglalagay ng kanilang sariling tauhan ang LTO upang manghuli ng mga motoristang ilegal na dumadan sa EDSA bus carousel.

Ito ang pinayahag ni LTO assistant secretary Vigo Mendoza II matapos ang isang taxi ay dumaan sa EDSA bus lane na siyang naging sagabal sa maayos na daloy ng mga buses sa EDSA bus lane noong nakaraang Sept. 23 ng magkaron ng baha sa tapat ng Camp Aquinaldo sa Quezon City.

Pinagutos ni Mendoza sa LTO-Nationa Capital Region na hanapin ang katauhan ng nasabing driver.

“Some abusive motorists have habitually used EDSA Bus Carouse. We recognize the limited manpower of MMDA to strictly enforce and while the LTO has the same problem, we will tap some of our enforcers to reinforce our brothers in the MMDA in keeping an eye on the EDSA Bus Carousel,” wika ni Mendoza.

Dagdag pa ni Mendoza na titiyakin niya ang agarang aksyon ng LTO upang maparusahan ang mga mahuhuling motorista na gagamit ng EDSA Bus Carousel.

Paulit-ulit na lamang nagbabala ang MMDA sa mga motorista na bawal ang pribadong sasakyan na dumaan at gumamit dito dahil ang innermost lane ay para lamang sa mga city buses at sasakyan na may emergency response tulad ng ambulance, fire trucks at sasakyan ng mga pulis.

Sumulat din si MMDA chairman Romando Artes sa LTO at Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) upang patawan ng karampatang parusa ang naturang dalawang erring na motorista. Ang isang motorista naman na nahuling gumamit ng EDSA bus lane ay halos mabanga na ang isang MMDA traffic enforcer noong Sept. 21.

“Said irresponsible acts not only aggravated the traffic congestion brought about by the flooding in the area due to heavy rain, it also burdened commuters by adding a considerable amount of time to their travel. The unnamed taxi driver should be punished for irresponsible behavior aside from disregarding traffic signs and obstruction,” saad ni Artes.

Ayon pa rin kay Artes na ang mga ganon klaseng motorista ay isang salot sa lansangan sapagkat wala silang pakialam sa kaligtasan ng ibang motorista at ng mga traffic enforces. LASACMAR

Nagtala ng mataas na ratings: Radyo5 TRUE FM, pinarangalan bilang Best Radio Station sa ’11th Makatao Awards”

MAY bagong milestone na nakamit ang Radyo5 TRUE FM matapos tanghaling bilang ‘Best Radio Station’ sa 11th Makatao Awards ng People Management Association of the Philippines o PMAP kamakailan.

Ang pagkilalang ito ay nagpapakita ng malaking tagumpay para sa Radyo5 mula nang nag-rebrand ito noong Marso at binago ang kanilang programa upang maghatid ng makatotohanang at makabuluhang balita na may kasamang programang serbisyong pampubliko sa FM band.

Ayon sa NIELSEN ratings, nasa ika-7 puwesto ang istasyon sa FM band at ika-8 puwesto sa lahat ng istasyon sa bansa, lumampas sa DZBB na nasa ika-10 puwesto. Samantala, batay sa KANTAR ratings, kinilala ang TRUE FM bilang nasa Top 5 sa ikalawang quarter ng 2023.

Tumaas din ang weekly listenership ng istasyon dahil umabot ito sa impresibong 23%. Kasalukuyan pa itinuturing na most followed radio station page sa bansa ang Radyo5 TRUE FM dahil sa 5.2 milyon followers nito sa Facebook.

Ang mga numero na ito ay nagpapatibay ng malaking pag-unlad na nagawa ng istasyon sa pagiging top choice ng mga radio listeners para sa “real, relatable and reliable content” na hango sa kanilang battlecry na “Dito Tayo sa Totoo!”

PhilHealth: Membership database ‘di napasok ng ’Medusa’ cyber attack

TINIYAK ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) na ang kanilang membership database ay hindi naapektuhan ng naganap na Medusa ransomware attack, na naging sanhi upang mapilitan ang ahensiya na i-shutdown muna ang kanilang online systems.

Sinabi ni PhilHealth president at CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. na hindi nagalaw ng hackers ang kanilang membership data, na siya aniyang pinakamahalaga sa lahat.

Ayon naman kay PhilHealth executive vice president at COO Eli Santos, hindi rin naapektuhan ng naturang cyber attack ang mga kontribusyon at claims ng kanilang mga miyembro at ang tanging nakompromiso lamang ay ang mga workstations ng kanilang mga empleyado sa Pasig City.

Siniguro naman ni PhilHealth IT Department Senior Manager Nelson De Vera na kasalukuyan na nilang inaayos muli ang mga naapektuhan ng pag-atake, na karamihan ay mga application servers.

Matatandaang kaagad na isinara ng ahensiya ang kanilang sistema matapos na matukoy ang ransomware attack noong Setyembre 22.

Anang PhilHealth, kabuuang 72 workstations ang nakompromiso kaya’t napilitan silang i-shutdown ang sistema.

Napaulat na nanghihingi ang mga hackers ng $300,000 o P17 milyong ransom at nagbanta na kung hindi magbabayad ay ilalabas nila ang mga ninakaw na datos mula sa database.

Sa kabila nito, nanindigan ang PhilHealth na hindi sila magbabayad ng ransom.

Setyembre 29 nang tuluyang maibalik at maging accessible muli sa publiko ang corporate website ng PhilHealth, gayundin ang member portal, at e-claims nito.

LTO nakatutok rin sa holiday traffic

PINAGHAHANDAAN na ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang pagbigat ng daloy ng trapiko ngayong panahon ng Kapaskuhan.

Sinabi ni LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II, na may mahigpit silang ugnayan sa mga iba’t ibang ahensiya para maityak na magiging maayos ang daloy ng trapiko sa Metro Manila.

Ilan sa mga pinakatutukan nila ay ang pag-iwas sa disgrasya at aksidente na maaring maganap ngayong Holiday season.

Pinayuhan nito ang mga drivers na pagplanuhang mabuti ang mga lakad ng hindi maipit ang mga ito sa trapiko. (Daris Jose)

Loan requirements para sa PUV modernization, dapat gawing simple

HINDI dapat pahirapan pa ng gobyerno ang mga naghihira na public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers at operators na gustong makiisa sa PUV modernization program ng pamahalaan.

Ipinunto ito ni AGRI Party-list Rep. Wilbert Lee kasabay nang panawagan nito sa Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), at iba pang government financial institutions na simplihan at i- streamline ang nakalulula umanong loan requirements para sa transport cooperatives at corporations sa pagbili ng makabagong jeep.

Sa isinagawang plenary deliberations sa panukalang 2024 budget ng Department of Transportation (DOTr), inihayag ni Lee na hindi dapat pahirapan ang mga PUV drivers at operators sa pagkuha ng loans upang ipambili ng modernong jeep.

“Let us liberalize and simplify these requirements. Marami na ngang na-comply na requirements na hiningi ang LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) at LTO (Land Transportation Office), kilo-kilometro pa rin ang dami ng hinihingi ng Land Bank o DBP na mahirap kumpletuhin,” giit ni Lee.

“Kaya po tayo nagsusulong ng ganitong mga programa, kaya natin pinapataas at pinapalaki ang budget, ay para makatulong. It defeats the purpose kung pinapahirapan natin sila. Ano ba talaga ang papel natin dito? Ang tulungan sila o ang pahirapan sila?” pagtatanong ng mambabatas.

Iginiit pa nito na magtulungan ang LTFRB para gawing mas mabilis ang proseso nang pagpapautang ng Land Bank, DBP at iba pang government financial institutions.

Ayon kay Lee, ang isang jeepney driver o operator na kumikta ng P500 hanggang P750 kada araw ay hindi kayang makabili ng modernong jeep na nagkakahalaga ng mahigit P2 million.

Bukod sa pagpapabilis at pagapadali sa proseso at requirements sa pautang, hiniling din ni Lee ang naglalaan ng alokasyon na P1.8 billion para sa PUV modernization program na nakakuha ng zero funding sa 2024.

“We need to understand na holistic at comprehensive itong modernization program. It does not end in just consolidating or buying new public utility vehicles or units,” paliwanag ni Lee. (Ara Romero)

DBM, naglaan ng P783 milyong piso sa 2024 NEP

UPANG magawa at maisakatuparan ang implementasyon ng iba’t ibang programa at polisiya tungo sa pagsusulong ng Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), inanunsyo ni Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman na naglaan ito ng P783 milyong piso para sa MSME Development Program sa panukalang 2024 National Expenditure Program (NEP) ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Mula sa naturang alokasyon, P100 milyong piso ang mapupunta sa Digitalization Program ng MSMEs para mapabilis ang pagsusulong at magawang palawakin ang merkado nito sa pamamagitan ng digitalisasyon.

“As I always say, our micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) serve as the building blocks of our country’s economy. And so following the directive of President Bongbong Marcos, we will help attract more investments and create more jobs by promoting more competitive and innovative industries, particularly among the MSMEs,” binigyang-diin ni Pangandaman.

“To further support and supply resources that will foster entrepreneurship, promote local products, and enhance the capabilities of MSMEs, the government will invest in locally-funded projects such as the establishment of Negosyo Centers, which has a proposed budget of P454 million,” ayon sa DBM.

Samantala, para sa implementasyon ng Shared Service Facilities Project, may inilaan ang DBM na P579 milyong piso para rito at para naman sa One Town, One Product Next Generation Project, ay P76 milyong piso ang inilaan ng departamento.

Sa kabilang dako, inaasahan na makikinabang naman ang 40,000 MSME borrowers mula sa Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-Asenso (P3) Program of the Small Business Corporation, P1.5 bilyong pisong budget ang inilaan ng DBM para rito.

Layon ng nasabing inisyatiba ang magbigay ng tinatawag na ‘viable alternative financing options’ sa micro-entrepreneurs habang sinisiguro ang ‘accessibility at sustainability’ sa isinusulong nitong paglago at progreso.

“Recognizing that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) constitute a significant portion of the country’s business landscape, this Administration remains committed to supporting their growth, especially as we recover from the economic scarring of the pandemic,” ang naging pahayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand R.
